Description
One of those drawings that you fall in love with after it's done appearing for you... I didn't really *see* it for the first like, three hours I was working on it.The camera picked up on the little scratchy-marks near the middle-right of the image. You really can't see them in person, but oh well.
The teacher told us to draw something from our imagination incorporating light and shadow.
This image is about 16x22, and is charcoal with white paint for the stars/sun

Definitely. What kind of game? Sort of a space-y D&D?

Awesome! I'll have to remove the part with the date, though, because the pic is supposed to be approximately 200 years older than then. I'll credit you with a link.

Fantastic texturing on something that is usually depicted as very stark and austere.

Thanks, Billeh! I kinda wanted a different approach to the whole thing... which I guess is why it came out this way. Thank you for the , too!

Thanks, man. I love realism, and I think that an asteroid mining operation would be really really crowded and visually busy. Also, your blatant flattery will get you nowhere when I take over the world. Just figured you should know XD.

Oh my, this is breathtaking.
This was done in charcoal? My god, I would have guessed pencils! The definition in the lines is so well done! And your use of light is spectacular. It's so alive and has so much depth, I feel like I could fall into it and fly among the asteroids.
Well done!

Flatterer.... Haha! Thank you. This was just one of those drawings where you get into it, really really into it, and forget that you're working on it until you finally step back and go "uhh, did I really draw this?"
As for the definition of the lines, it did take a while, I'll admit. I think it helps that the picture is so big.
In any event, thank you very much for the comment and for the ! I appreciate it!

You are most welcome.
I love pictures like that, where you get so into it that you love every line or a story where you love every word... and then you snap out of it and it's 3am and you realize you forgot to eat and you're not sure where this piece of art came from, but heck it's good!

If only one had the time for it to happen more often, right?! Seems I'm always rushing somewhere...
I'm sure you know what I mean.

Yeah, if only there was time to just be an artist all day instead of working. What's up with working, anyhow? It takes too much time.

It's kinda strange, being a waged slave... I mean, think of it this way. Can you really just live comfortably without having a job? You have to pay property taxes and you have to buy food, unless you're stealing it or you like hunting. Definitely can't have the quality of life we have without a job. How else could you afford a house, or a computer, or any of the nice things Americans love to buy!?

I don't even know how to live at all without working. I just wish my working was writing comics instead of teaching small children to paint and do math.
One day I will throw off these shackles of modern urban oppression and join the ranks of the self employed, i'm sure. But until then, I must buy fancy burritos and my rent, so I must work.
