Hey there! It's mainly a personal creative project that started a few years ago, which he is approachingas a video game design. The format is party based tactical RPG. Somewhere between Konami's Ring of Red, Square Enix's Front Mission 3 & 4, and RUSE (assuming any of those sound familiar).
It is mainly for fun and I got to work on this with Rob, trying top flesh out the ideas and models.
You can find out more about it in this dedicated gallery: [link]

It's a Dieselpunk setting in the WW2 era. with just a little twitch to it.

woohoo! Ridiculously unique! Sure, walking tanks have been around for a long time, but nothing like this.

I think it is more a self propelled gun (SPG), because a tower looks like moveless. But I like it anyway . By the way, here is some nice pictures of SPG: [link]

Yes it can't move the turret. It's an german tank destroyer design, they did them all in casemate style. Really like the starnge three wheeled design in the link. Funny one.

Try the Kerkythea rendering engine. Works wonders with Sketchup models... it's definitely better than the Sketchup renderer.

Is there a Soviet version in the works?

Thanks, tried Kerkythea and works so much better!
Na sadly there is no russian version in the works (although already thought of something [link] ), would love to do one. Especially since there is an eager interest in me to have something to crush them german machines . Maybe later.

I don't know if it's SketchUp's fault or the camouflage, but it's really hard to see the little awesome details all over it. Did you delete them for the sake of a speedy render?

No its Skecthup, didn't delete anything for the render. Gonna give it another try in Kerkythea.

Oh, SketchUp, why must you play such cruel tricks on the eye...

Well, its something wrong with the shadow on the bottom of the mech. Anyway, I love the texture

Yeah, sketchup somehow always messed it up, when I exported it. WAs fed up with it, so I posted it anyways...

Looks really cool all rendered!
Does sketchup do this, or you use another software for the final render?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

flaketom In reply to Rob-Cavanna [2010-08-27 14:12:51 +0000 UTC]

Just the normal, Sketchup rendering, with the edge lines left out. Not really hapy with it, as Sketchup always messes something up, when shadows are added in bigger files. (gunbarrel casts no shadows, the lighter parts in front and under the tank). In the original file it looks fine, but when exported its messed up, although I tried it several times.

Right. I get it now. Know exactly what you mean. Not really a perfect program, but then it's free after all...
