much "cooler" than the last one!! thank you for giving me the overall view (rear view), so i can see clearly the gunner balcony, now!

One thing i was wondering about is, the get in there with a ladder, are they??

Thanks a lot! There is a small elevator (either handdriven or electrically operated on the back of the platform/balcony.
Though there should be a rope ladder for emergency exits.

ah i see, though i think a roped ladder would be much more making sense, since the small frame body is not enough for an elevator, especially reminding the time setting

Well, it's not an big elevator. Just a small one man cage, lowered by an steel rope. Thought such a thing would make sense,so to resupply in the field and easier evacuate wounded.
Here a pic to better see it: [link]

Ah yes now i see what u mean is. I've seen it at Rob-Cav's picture. I thought the elevator was inside the body, so i thought it won't making sense

that is very acceptable concept

Thanks a lot for the compliments! I'm using GoogleSketchup, it is for free, although there is a pro version for money, which you shouldn't need, as all the necessary tools are in the free version.
You'll find some very helpful plugins here: [link] , though you wont necessarily need the first one, but the rest is for free as well
Some more with a good overview here: [link]

Good tutorials are all over youtube and a fast one which explains pretty everything about how to model is here:

So hope this'll help getting started!

re:update...
Still completely awesome!!

Double Howitzer looks better, I think.
And the elongated axe handle probably better for smashing the lower-lying tanks.
Might make observation of melee combat (from viewing ports) easier if it's farther from the bulky body.

Yeah, also much happier with it. But I just realized I need to shorten the front shield...pfff...
Also added a crane and a small pedestal on the gun so the reloading is easier, also possible without an extra mech. Although a reloading/ammo carrier mech is tempting. Well...

Okay, aside from all the obvious awesomeness, I do have one question to ask:
I assume the green cannisters on the chest are a mech-version of handgrenades? Seems a bit contrary to packs such a heavily armored mech and them strap two exposed high-explosives to it's chest. I see how the mech is a balance between practical armored vehicle and a giant metaphor of a 'common' soldier, but this might be a bit in conflict.

Yasyasyas. already pointed that one out, but I couldn't get over my weaker self and wanted to go for as much overkill as possible so I didn't delete them. Ahhh.
will remove them with the next edit....or not. Will see what my immoderate mind says... But thanks anyways!

I had the same conflict of course. Forever caught between what looks cool and what makes sense...

Yeah, thought of maybe adding some armor plating to the grenade racks. But until now reason won.

LOVE IT! This whole project is jaw-dropping, but this just makes the kid in me smile - content in the knowledge that his future self would have something like this to look at. So nice. I wanna see so much more of this.

Awesome work here, I love the gunner's balcony on the back.
It would be kinda tricky to reload those big rifles on his arm, though.

flaketom In reply to JazzLizard [2011-01-17 12:08:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes would definitely be. Think there would be a need for a support vehicle, either a mecha or another one with an crane, to accomplish this. Hmmm, as I wanted to change the main cannon anyways, I should maybe put the guns side by side, so the magazine would face downwards (or upwards) so reloading them could be done from the bottom, as in the former version where there is a small hand operated cable winch already mounted on all guns, so the heavy magazine could be reloaded by someone standing in the lift on the back...
Hmmm need to think. Small support walker sounds like a nice thing to make...We'll see
