Description

*edit: changed the suspension of the fuel tanks.

The XXX is a heavy modular attack helicopter. The base version of the it is easily converted, to fulfill different roles. These include an artillery variant, a gunship variant for ground support, a long range laser variant to take down precisely heavy targets and an anti air version. With a crew of three it is meant to operate for extended periods being also able to form something like a flying wall, defending larger territories against air strikes or threats on the ground. Equipped with four hardpoints on the hull and two exchangeable wings for different roles it can carry a huge variety of sensors and weapons.
Medium armored it relies mostly on its passive and active countermeasure systems, being independent of other systems and needing not much support against missile, rocket and to an amount gun attacks. It carries his on ECM and ECCM system with a base version built in and two wing pylons reserved solely for ECM pods.
The version seen here is the laser variant, with additional fuel tanks to deal with the high energy consumption. It also has lesser APS systems than the normal variants as it flies normally much higher and is therefore less vulnerable to ground attacks.

The point defense variant can be seen here: flaketom.deviantart.com/art/pf…
A ground support version can be seen here: flaketom.deviantart.com/art/pf…

Couldn't come up with a proper name, just happy my Computer didn't break down while modelling this.

I laughed out loud when I first saw this, it's so absurd yet so cool. I really like it and the other chopper designs you did.

How many faces (polygons) does this model have?
I am impressed sketchup can take that much!

Must admit I got no clue. Never checked it, but quite a lot I guess

This looks way too massive for these tiny rotors to support it.

Agree, agree, agree. Definitley need to change that.

Damn Flaketom, you are exceeding the maximum allowable excellence for today.  I have to turn off my computer before it overheats.

That's not a helicopter.
It's a tank with spinning blades.

Makes the tank even deadlier with spinning blades

highStrangeness [2015-07-28 03:08:23 +0000 UTC]

This is a really cool render, but have you considered, that it looks too heavy (bulky) for the rotor blades to ever lift?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

flaketom In reply to highStrangeness [2015-07-28 14:44:04 +0000 UTC]

No, they are magic rotorblades so all is well...
they are a tad small for the whole thinf but, I must admit I am too lazy to resize them as this whole model is kinda big and my computer starts to get real slow...

highStrangeness In reply to flaketom [2015-07-28 17:53:12 +0000 UTC]

Ah ok. I hadn't considered that they were magical.  What did you use to model it with? I am learning Blender, myself.  Most of my experience with 3D art though, is with fractals.

I modelled it with sketchup and rendered it with v-ray

you will kill me one of these days Flake ! XD

You can't make such awesome stuff and don't expect pepole just don't explode for the sheer awesomeness these works of art ooze out !

jokes aside this as well as all the others are just other fantastic demonstrations that you're able to model 3d stuff that looks real but at the same time too cool to be real ^^

Many many thanks for the kind words, they are much appreciated coming from you. As I love your line art, which shows such a great understanding of form and function!

BIG Thanks again!
