I remember something like this happened in an episode of Sonic Underground, where Sonic scarfs down something that turns out to be a TOFU dog, and he spits it out right onto a target with a picture of Robotnik on it.

first of all; nice job on the expressions, RD is like; "what?" and Sonic looks like he just thought that the popsicle he was about to bite didn't look as hard as a rock.
anyways, my own spin on the upcoming dialogue;
RD; "Sonic, why are you making that face?"
Sonic; "You forgot to tell me that this was gonna be a carrot..."
RD; "What were you thinking it was gonna be?" *cue troll face*
Sonic; "...fair enough."

I can kind of guess;
*Sonic and RD are traveling across the country side and go into Manehattan*
Sonic; "This place is like station square! Β Only, larger."
RD; "How much larger?"
Sonic; "Very, and so many tall buildings...oh well, I've been through citys like this."
RD; "It is a metropolis, Sonic."
*they talk while walking around Manehattan*
RD; "Hey sonic want a carrot-dog?"
Sonic; "A what?"
*sees the vendor, forgets to look closely at the carrot-dogs, only sees the bun*
Sonic; "Yeah, sure" [completely ignores RD's attempts to tell him about it]
RD; "Okay, wait right here."
Sonic; "Will do."
*Rainbow Dash gets two carrot dogs, gives one to Sonic, Sonic forget to look at what he's eating [probably preoccupied with trying to remember what this scenario reminds hi of] and then takes a bite, cue this picture*
