Description Another piece of fan art from R.A. Salvatores books! I have been workin on this picture on and off for a very long time and it seemed as though i would never finish it. I started workin on it in PS 2.0 and it was very rough, but halfway through I learned how to use PS CS3, which made things much better. Anyway, I took too much time on this pic, but it was a learning process for me....glad to be DONE!

for any fans of the books out there - the scimitar in his left hand is icingdeath and the one in the right is twinkle....if it isn't obvious enough...... For me the skin was probably the part i was most indecisive about, so i saved it for last. It started off ebony, but ended up this color... which i think gives him more of the hunters look. Anyhow, i am satisfied with the results....for now hehe. Hope u like it!... just wish i had a background

Great art. Hate to nitpick, but I noticed 2 things. Icingdeath's pommel should be in the form of a hunting cat. (though the design you have is very good also) You (probably due to some other official art) flipped the hands the scimitars should be in, Twinkle is the left hand blade, Icingdeath is the right. Sorry, I know I'm probably being petty here and I don't mean to be.

Time well spent. I too appreciate that you rendered the two blades as unique and not a matching set.Β

I have a suggestion / request if i may.
Β Liriel Baenre. You did so well on Drizzt, I'd squeal like a happy fangirl if you'd do one of Liriel too! :-D

simply amazing!! and great work on Twinkle and Icingdeath! it's great to see them like they were described for a change. Or at least different from everyone else's. Every other artwork I see of Drizzt Twinkle and Icingdeath look identical and that is not true! Thank you for taking the time to notice that and make them differently. You are true fan of the Legend Of Drizzt series.

Now this is how I imagine his weapons to be like! I'm 2/3 of the way through Homeland and already I'm seeing why people like this character. Awesome rendition!

oh thanks! 2/3 of the way through Homeland eh? You have a long and enjoyable journey ahead of you in the Realm of Drizzt Do'Urdens life! I'm about halfway through the Pirate King, but honestly I wish I had stopped reading before I read the Hunter's Blades Trilogy. Something about the way R.A. Salvatore writes has changed and I don't like the way he's changing Drizzt... well maybe its just me, but my bro agrees.... Anywho, the series is amazing, keep reading!

Showcase of this form have always been two of his swords and scimitars or should I say. Both they and their armor have very precise detail. They are staggering effect of this figure. Feel the spirit of Forgothen Realms for what I greatly thank you.
The work is so good that I will add it to my favorites.

omg! finally, im so tired of artists that make Twinkle and Icingdeath twin blades. they should not look the same! I LOVE YOU

Wow,this is phenomenal I love the detail on the armour and especially Twinkle, I think it's the light blue/ turquoise effect it has that gets me. Well done you deserve no less.

Absolutely lovely! I particularly like the 'glow' of his eyes. It's nice to see a rendition of him that isn't too 'feminine' yet posessed of the drow 'beauty' that RA is always mentioning. And, as with most here, thanks for making the two sword different!

Now... how about a crack at Jarlaxle? Hmmmm?

A very nice piece! I definitely will be saving this one to view later...

Being a huge fan of Drizzt, I "HATE" that his swords have evolved into mirror images of one another. For "Homeland," "Exile," and "Sojourn" it makes perfect sense that his first set of scimitars would be identical in every way. Just not Twinkle and Icingdeath.

As for his armor, you're right. Salvatore ought to do some detail in that some time. Though I do love the look of the armor you created, it 'should' be lighter with earthy tones. BUT this is you're piece of work and as such critics can be quiet. Though as an afterthought I could totally see him wearing this gear when he was still in Menzoberranzan. Drow and their magic...

By the gods I could kiss you, as mentioned by someone else Twinkle and Icingdeath are not identical swords and by far more importantly, scimitars have a real curve to them. That and having read the books over as many times as I have I would really say that you hit the details of the swords dead on, especially with Icingdeath. Also for the most part I like your rendition of Drizzt's armor better than most. For that was one of the things Salvatore kinda neglected, the detail and style of Drizzt's (and most everyone else) armor.

Flambo13 In reply to Genobee [2010-08-03 03:17:36 +0000 UTC]

Haha that is quite the compliment. I'm so glad that you appreciate the difference in the swords. Like you said, they are different in the book and I wanted to make sure I made them that way. Looking back at the armor, it was fun to draw that way at the time, but Drizzt would probably wear something a lot lighter to maintain speed and agility. If I were to draw Drizzt again, I would probably make the armor present that lightweight feel.

Thank you for being literally the ONLY person that drew the Icingdeath and Twinkle as two different swords, imo, there's no way they look the same (as they always do in pictures) due to the fact that Drizzt got them from different places at different times. - But, in regards to the actual piece: Well done Great job!

AWESOME! My dad loves the series and Im gonna read them as soon as Im done with Daughter of the Drow. My dad's birthday is the day before Halloween and Im drawing him a pic of Drizzt. But I had no clue as to what he looked like so I went through a bunch of Drizzt pics and this one is the best to see hus armor with. Great job! Hey, what did you do for his skin?
Good luck with your career in or out of art!

Thanks so much, glad u like it! Tell your dad some stranger from deviant art said happy birthday! Oh ya, by the way, your dad rocks for reading the drizzt books! They are pretty much the best books ever. Anyway, as for how i drew the skin, first off u should know that i drew this entirely in photoshop cs3. Its been so long since i drew this that all i can remember is that the skin started off a shade of brown and I added some blues and purples and just played with color adjustments til I was happy with the way it looked. I believe that I just used a basic brush with varying opacity. Don't know if that helps u with anything, but thats about it. Well, not sure if I will ever make a career out of my art, like I once hoped, but I will definitely never stop drawing. Even if its just for the enjoyment I get out of it. One last thing, props to you for your dev sig, its good to see that there are still people that aren't ashamed to admit they know and love Christ. Later.
