Description
Sealing in the poison from consuming them, letting it fester and swell inside of me. I knew it was time to suck it up an carry on, dying a lonely death was worse than anything the devil could conjure. "if you think its my fault…than im sorry. I never meant for anyone to die. I thought leaving was for the best." I forced the apathy from my voice and attempted to appear sympathetic and wholesome. "see hes sorry, why don't we just pack up and leave It looks like the undead already found a way in." Natalie chided the others softly and no one spoke, as if they were afraid their own oppinions held no weight anymore. As for myself, the pent up anger was exhausting me, I found it to hard to ignite my temper anymore, I was drawing back into the shy unsure Zach who until recently resided inside my head. As my conciunce. Now Red, the boisterous, wild raving boy was locked away in my mind. Clawing and crying for his voice to be heard.
"Traveling at a group this size inst good." I grumbled absently and a few turned to aknsowledge my prescense. "its true, before with our group we were pushing it. I say we split up, one group of 5, one of 4." Rich backed, a stone certainty in his voice. "split up?" Ash asked, a crisp fear quivering in his voice. "it seems only fair that Smith should divide them up then." Jennifer tossed in her two cents and everyone seemingly agreed. "well alright then…Rich you take Anna Natalie and Ash, ill take Z-Red, Jane, Jennifer and David."
I couldn't deny the tiny flourish of joy when I found out I was paired in with jane. I needed to heal the wounds of our relationship with her. "wait we will see each other again?" Natalie looked up to smith, a longing adorned with fear jewled her eyes. Smith shook his head, trousling his grimy silver locks, sighing gently, "no I don't think so, but Natalie they need you." Smith broke off when Natliae partially strangled him in a hug, then detached and took little Anna's hand and lead her over to Rich and Ash. "We will go east, I guess you'll go north?" Rich noted checking all his guns, inspecting them. "sure that sounds like a plan. Good luck and may god be with you." Smith dipped his head in farewell and the tiny group exited out the door with little less than a wave of depature. "great now im stuck with a physcho, an old man and a pair of love birds." Jennifer narrowed her eyes to slits and folded her arms crossily. "come on Spunk don't be like that." david pleaded gingerly, "don't call me that." She snarled, hackles risen and stormed outside, obviously waiting until we were ready to leave. "shes right though." I added in attempted to voice my disgust of the pairing of them, which was apprant since the exchanged a rather 'intimate' hug. More like a groping session.
Tapping my M16, shotgun, my pistols and my machete to take inventory I stuffed my pockets to the seams with once glistening shells, now they were scuffed and had tiny lacerations along the body. "everyone ready?" Smith attempted to appear jovial and upbeat but when rather ununthiastic reply retorted he sighed, "this is gonna be a long trip." "your telling me." I punctuated, on his tail out the door.
The food I had scavenged had been divied up between the group and smith had loaded everything we had into his backpack, which was lumped and disgured from the odd assortment of contents. "keep your eyes peeled for the undead." smith warned, straining throught the darkness, it was nearing nightfall and the waning moon only provided so much relief. Fingering the triger of my m16 I felt a little more at ease and with the company of four I now understood why wolves and horses traveled in groups, the more you had the safer you were. But oddly enough, I was right when I said too much was too much. A lot maybe be safer but a large group is prone to be spotted and swiftly broken apart which leads to panic and hysteria.
After hours of walking the cold was gnawing even at the marrow in my bones, it was caked inside my throat and stilled in my lungs. "hey red…are you okay? I mean all this has to be…hard to handle." Smith questioned warily. Funny it actually seemed like he cared, maybe it was the fridgid conditions making my brain fritz. "im just peachy. I love it when people hate me." I slate the sarcasm thick in my tone and tightened my grip on the gun. "we wouldn't hate you if you weren't such a idiot." Jennifer noted hotly from beside Smith. "I second that." Janes voice was keen and sharpened, the bitter cold was taking it toll.
"woah woah woah. What is…that." Smith held off the group with a raised hand. A tiny light hovered in the distance, no bigger than a seasme seed. It danced in the night, moving around in the dark. The faint trace of voices where carried downwind to our feed. "flashlights." I noted, rembering the time when a friend of mine had run off ahead of me when we were out ding dong ditching with a flasht, the light jumping wildly around as he moved. It was nearly I dentical. "could be…but survivors? This close to our old home. That's pretty rare." Smith lead us closer to the lights, confident in his findings. It was a welcome sight to the undead that were still near, lingering in the shadows, the nights camaflouge concealing us well.
"wait maybe this isn't such a good idea." David warned, growing nervous as te voices, rose, shouting jovially, oblivious to the threat that was hunkered down in every crevice, waiting. "why not? Maybe they have more supplies and guns we could use. We need all the help we can get." Jennifer acussed shortly, I could make out her doubt through the shade. "yeah your right." david succomb to his own short comings and fell instep behind Smith who lead us.
We were within sight in minutes, the flashlights had disapered but a billowing bon fire was in its place. Its glow illuminated enough to see there where 5 of them, all adults except for one gaunt shriveled teenage boy. The neighborhood suburbia had thinned out to a coarse country side, which explained why we could spot them so clearly from the distance, and they were set up with logs rolled up to the fire, coolers littered around and a trailer parked to the side. How have they survived this long being so open? Do the undead just not see them or…? My inner subconscious was suspicious of the group from the beginning. But it wasn't long before Smith was shaking hands with the odd party. "hello there!" we literally where standing within feet of the starngers, just beyond the light of the fire, cloaked in the dark. Some jostled or jumped but on, a burly man, more slender than Rich, taller in latitude, shone his flashlight into our eyes, making all of us cringe back against the harsh beam. "what in the hell?" The shrill souther drawl was a painful reminder of the lost member, Dirt. The woman who spoke was withered and dawned with wrinkles, a bottle of what looked suspiciously like moonshine was clutched loosely in her fingers. "we didn't mean to scare you, we were just wondering if perphahs we could stay here for the night, swap stories and supplies." Smith was acting socially outward and ethustaticly. An obvious rookie at the game of survival. None the less the strangers didn't seem too put off by it, "well sure! Come sit down and have a beer. Company is always welcome."
Something didn't seem right with his tone, it was disturbingly similar to a pair of friends sharing an inside joke in front of someone who was out of the loop.
Other than the teen, the man and the old woman there was another man, whos girth nearly over took him, and a sickly looking pale woman, around her 20's who looked bright eyed and uneasy, she wrung her hands over and over, silently mumbling to her self. Smith sat close to the man, jane and david took up and empty log and I sat next to Jennifer on another, who scooted away from me at first glace. "so where you folks come from any how? My names Kennth and that there is Ol' shila." The husky man jawed, his words were slurred and sloppy. He then continued to dub the heavy man as Billy, the shaken woman as Lila and fnnaly the teen who held a smug look to his eye, as Tweek.
"we actually lived just down to the south for a little ways, the undead trapped us up there." Smith did all the talking, as usual. "aw that's a shame…those undead don't bother us much." Kenneth jarred the fire with a lengthy shaft of a stick, all the while I felt a rising bile slick my throat. I was fighting something similar close to nausea, where to more you feared it, the more it grew. "im uh gonna go use the bathroom." The words stuck like needles in my throat as ai quickly left for some fresh air. "grab some more beers out of the trailer while your at it. In the blue cooler." Kenneth barked over his shoulder to my dispaering figure.
Deciding to stick close to the area, I doubled around behind the trailer and after I had finished I crept into the candle lite trailer. The stench of rotting food tickled the nausea in my stomach. I bit my breath and looked around. Coolers where scattered aaround everywhere. On the table, the floor and the couches! A panic set into my limbs, the smell was familiar, where had I smelled it before? I atmpted to quell my fear, knowing it was irrational and rummaged around pulling coolers out of the way, only to reveal more. Of all colors, finnaly I spotted two blues nestled up near the cockpit of the trailer. Meanwhile I could pick up the conversation outside. "so uh…how did you manage to keep the undead away. Espically in a place like this?" smith laughed and I paused to hear the answer, curious. "oh you know…you gotta keep em fed and they wont come looking for trouble." Kenneths words flowed slow, and all knowing.
I drug one cooler towards me, its plastic shell was cool to the touch, ice was a percious resource around here. Near immposible to find.
"feed them what?" smith asked, a wary endge in his voice. Abestly I pulled open the lid, my hands slid iside quickly to grab the drinks only my body went ridgid instantly. Oh god…Inside was the distinct appendage of a human hand, mangled to fit inside the ice box, other chunks of flesh where stored inside. I leapt backward, as if a shark had just brushed past me. Stomaching the scream and vomit that was churning in my stomach I opened another cooler just to check my eyes. This time…a human head. "uh…smith." I partially screamed the words, fear cracking it in several places. "uh oh. Parties over." Kenneth laughed as I watched him reach for his gun. "oh shit no! Run!" I cried as I leapt out from the trailer door, tumbling out onto the grass. A gunshot filled the clearing as a piece of shrapnel of the trailer fell to my left. I hear cries as the others where seized. Of course they were cannibals. Of fucking course. My mind was numb. I had no ideas execpt for animal desire. I bolted. "get him Tweek. Stun gun him, we can spoil the meat now can we." I heard Kennth demand, suddenly all the fear of the initail outbreak I had pushed off until this moment. It was like in nightmares, the chase. I could help but scream out of terror as I saw a shape closing in on me. The metallic click followed by a tiny sting in my lower back told me I was caught. The unbearable surge of electricity that boiled my blood and made my legs give way beneath me told me I was doomed. I was left to fend for myself as my world closed to black.

Damn! That was awesome!
Freaky people....
Anyways, one thing to do might be to edit it after you finish writing? Just to make sure you don't have typos and all that.
Another thing might be to have a space between each paragraph so it's easier to read?
But those are just suggestions!
Very nice job with the story! It's always fun reading!
