Description
Okay, so, I've informed you all about Team L.A.S.H. earlier, as you may or may not recall. We've already met the "L" , the "A" , the "S" , and now it's time to introduce you to the "H". So, here's Hikaru Albertson, the son of Comic Book Guy and his wife Kumiko! Now, I know Comic Book Guy is a very divisive character, especially among die-hard Simpsons fans, but I, personally, find him extremely funny and even kind of relatable. As someone who has spent so many years in fandom culture, I have met the exact type of person CBG is skewering at least 3 times. And I thought it was incredibly sweet that they gave him a permanent love interest in season 25- and the fact that said love interest is a Japanese mangaka makes my little weeaboo heart happy. Their relationship on the show is so wholesome and is an example of a lot of my favorite ship dynamics (fat/skinny, artist/muse, dorks in love, etc.). Besides, it reminds me of Samkota (from Total Drama) and Stekiko (from American Dad), and you can't go wrong with either of those. So, I thought a Comic Book Guy x Kumiko fankid (What's their ship name, anyways? Comiko? Yeah, I'm gonna pioneer that ship name from now on) would be the perfect addition to my little "10 years later" fic.
So, since it's already established that CBG and Kumiko want kids as of "The Dad-Feelings Limited", the two of them had a baby shortly after the events of the show (who I may or may not retcon if they actually do give CBG and Kumiko a kid on the show). Said baby was a girl, and was named Selina Chie Albertson. (Her first name is after Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, and her middle name is Japanese for “a thousand pictures”, which is appropriate for the daughter of an artist and a comic book salesman). The two of them were very happy with Selina, and loved her dearly, giving her lots of attention and affection.
However, one year after Selina was born, CBG and Kumiko watched a movie together and got very... passionate. So they... well... you know, and Kumiko got pregnant again. It was a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. The pregnancy went smoothly, but when they found out it was a boy, CBG and Kumiko had a big debate over which pop-cultural figure they should name their child after. The argument got so heated that the two of them began fighting each other with plastic swords. However, while they were sword-fighting, CBG got a "eureka" moment. He suggests they name their kid after Hikaru Sulu from Star Trek (who is a skilled fencer, hence why the sword fight reminded CBG of him). Kumiko thought that was a lovely idea (as she knew her family would be pleased if she gave her son a Japanese name), and so when her son was born, they named him Hikaru.
And with that, CBG and Kumiko's geeky little family was complete.
Some bonus information:
-His favorite video game series is the Dash Dingo series, and he has played every game to 100% completion. He brags about this to anyone who will listen.
-He is trilingual: fluent in English, Japanese, and Klingon.
-Speaking of which, since Kumiko is from Osaka and he learned Japanese from her and her family, he speaks Japanese with a Kansai regional accent.
-He's surprisingly adept at sports considering his weight. He shares his dad's love of baseball, with an expansive knowledge of the sport and its rules, and he's good at playing it, too. He's also very skilled at kendo, a type of Japanese fencing.
-Like 33% of Springfield citizens, Hikaru is left-handed.
-He, too, is in the same class as Anastasia, Liv, and Simon. He sits next to Simon and is good friends with him; the two of them have been friends ever since Hikaru found out about Simon's secret video gaming hobby. In addition, he was the first person to befriend Liv, and he and her are very close. They're not romantically involved, though, not by any means.
-He has kind of a "sibling yin-yang" thing going on with Selina (or, as everyone calls her nowadays, "Webcomic Kid"). He's an outgoing and enthusiastic extrovert, and she's an antisocial and apathetic introvert. She's better at art than him and more adept with computers, but he's sportier than her and better at video games.
-He carries a portable video game console with him everywhere, and will whip it out whenever he gets bored (much to the disappointment of his teachers and Simon).
-He has no filter and will pretty much just say whatever's on his mind, for better or for worse.
-He's a little bit of a pyromaniac. You put him in the vicinity of a fire, and he'll start throwing things into them to see how they'll burn.
-While his first name is after Hikaru Sulu, his middle name, Peter, is after Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man. This was Comic Book Guy's idea, of course.
-Unlike Comic Book Guy, who is very critical and pessimistic, Hikaru is very easily impressed and tends to think everything is the coolest thing ever. They have a sort of Spongebob and Squidward-esque "gleeful and grumpy" dynamic.
-When he grows up, he wants to either play baseball in the major leagues or become an e-sports superstar.
Anyways, I hope you like him!
