my first new piece of work in awhile.. sorry! anyway, this is a portrait of george harrison in the early beatle days. i used varied kinds of charcoal in this, especially white, and tissues to blend. it's the biggest drawing i've done so far at 11x14. i'm especially proud of the hair, because it's the part i'm worst at, but this time i don't think it's so bad. hahaRelated content

I drew George from that same picture! =o Of course you drew him much better. My drawing looks like George, but it looks nothing like the picture. I want your awesome shading skills now. I can't do shadows worth crap.

actually it was white charcoal pencil, so it was pretty easy to work with

Being the new year i was looking through some new calanders
and there was a Beetles one. and i saw the photo of a drawing that you had done.
however they posess the qualitys of a great drawing.. you can see ur use of line etc.
often drawings get so obsessedwith looking like a photograph, they do, but we may as well have taken a photo.
you continue to prove why we still SHOULD draw and not rely on photos
its not about looking like the person.. but feeling that person and capturing them
congratulations
and you fasinate me with they way you can use charcol like that

BLOODY HELL!! this is beautiful, I was about to enter a journal entry for new years (...ho boy...) and I saw this and immediately recognized him! Beatles, baby, Beatles. lol, but this is very VERY good! I cannot believe how talented you are! I just joined this site and looking at the art posted here, I feel dwarfed immensely. Not that I've gotten the chance yet to post some of my art, just a crappy poem I wrote ages ago, but seeing art like this makes me quake! The detail on this is so amazing that it looks like a photograph. And CHARCOAL! I cannot use charcoal, trust me I've attempted. I know how hard it is to put up with, your patience and attention to detail are displayed very well in this piece! The nose is very good, and the shadow on its lower part. The shadowing on the right (or his left but whatever) cheek, indeed the hair is amazing but what gets me the most is the eyes and brows. Obviously seeing that you are a fan, I've always noticed the way harrison's eyes were, just that "thing" about them on the right (his left) side, and you've captured that amazingly. This is so awesome!!!!!!!!
