Is there a specific way of studying to get these kickass silhouettes?

mean, I understand the concept behind it, but you stretch it to a whole
new degree, stuff like this being animated would give me a heart
attack.

umm, just try to prioritize energetic shapes. Think about an overall flow of the image and every single line in the drawing should either flow along with that, or deliberately oppose it. Never add detail unless it compliments the image as a whole.
Read the Disney Hercules artbook, research Gerald Scarfe. Also research Genndy Tartakovsky.

Useful stuff, thanks! Tartakovsky is king, Samurai Jack became one of my favorite cartoons after I've grown up. I like to say it's an animated illustration of what we read in Dream Worlds (Hans Bacher).
