The first thing a lot of ponies realize about Princess Morning Star is her stone cold nature. She appears stiff and unapproachable to others but remains a good and level headed leader for her subjects. All of them, that is. Moring Star is also a fierce fighter for Hybrid Rights within Equestria as she is one. She cannot publically campaign though, as she must not show her true hybrid form to the public and instead is almost always in an alicorn form so as not to alarm any of her subjects. This is done by a spell which she performs on herself. Before she was born, Celestia and Luna had decided to try and integrate hybrid species into Equestria society. This started small, Luna began to train bat ponies for her royal guard, offering them homes and the same opportunities as any other pony. Then large scale changes began, hybrids began to move into Canterlot and start their own businesses and families. Some ponies were happy and some found love, marrying hybrids and such. The rough majority of ponies, however, were not happy with the appearance of hybrids and so the prejudice began. During this time Celestia had started to spark a relationship with Discord but kept the entire thing secret. They eventually had a child but soon the hybrid situation got out of hand with ponies being violent towards them and some fighting back. Discord was torn from his family, Celestia begging him to leave for his own safety as she feared they would be found out. She tried her best to handle the so called “Hybrid Uprising” but the task eventually fell onto Luna who dealt with it surprisingly well. This lead to Celestia ultimately giving Luna most of her royal duties until Morning Star came of age. She was crowned as Princess and took over doing things like meetings, ceremonies etc. Celestia became distant. She had lost her love and her status. Luna and Star offer a lot of support so that Celestia sometimes shows up to large scale events for a short period and she still raises the sun. Star never knew her father and she longs to at least know more about him then Luna’s stories , Celestia finds it too difficult to talk about him. Star is immensely powerful and is very skilled in combat of most forms, she seems to prefer a spear to a spell though as it uses less energy.

Star is actually very proud of her true self and being a hybrid but knows that if she were to reveal that she isn't the pretty alicorn all the ponies think she is then she would be putting herself and the rest of the royals at risk. Since her mother has become a shell of her former self, Star has a very close relationship with Luna, after all they are running the kingdom together.
Star plays a major role in the Hybrids comic.
