Thank you! The chain came to me by way of Stockholm Sweden 11 years ago after meeting this girl in California. We were internet "pen pals" and it was sent as a birthday gift. The pendant was picked up at a place called "The Sword and The Rose" in San Francisco also a gift a few years later (same girl) & the ring over the pendant has a life all it's own.
Jessa (the girl) met me in New York, her first time in the city and our second time meeting in person after six years of writing letters and exchanging email. I wanted to show her the garden on the roof of the Chelsea Hotel. It was two in the morning, we had been walking the city, ducking into the occasional coffee house or bar and talking all night - we were both scheduled to return to our respective home cities in the morning.
Standing on 23rd street outside the Chelsea I asked if she had any rings in her bag, she produced the ring in the photo. I put it on her ring finger and said to follow my lead. We walked into the Chelsea and explained how I had just proposed and how it would mean the world to us if we could go up to the roof "where we first met". The guys behind the counter either bought into the story or were just feeling generous. A few words later and we were on our way up the stairs.
Jessa and I had only met one time before that night, six years earlier in San Francisco. Meting in New York was our second "date". 10 weeks after New York her book shelf arrived at my door via courier, she arrived a few weeks later. It's been six years since she and her books came to my place in Cambridge, twelve since we first met in San Francisco and ... she's still here and I am still wearing the necklace.
That is the story of how my necklace came into being.
