Well, you're actually wrong in that regard. Great Britain isn't a proper country just a collection of smaller ones. By saying Scotland isn't a real country you could also say that Whales, Ireland and England aren't real countries either. They most certainly are however.

The reason I think you're confused in the matter is because most maps display the UK or Great Britain as just that, UK or GB; this is for ease of display more so than anything else. The names are just used to refer to the 4 countries as a whole [Great Britain for Scotland and England, United Kingdom for Scotland, England, Whales and Ireland and the British Iles for Scotland, England, Whales, Ireland, the republic of ireland and all surrounding islands]

Scotland is a real recognised country, just not independant. You may have heard of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, the chaps who fought for Scottish independance in the 18th century. The reason Scotland ISN'T independant is because of England, when their leader at the time drafted a "Union of Nations" which combined both England and Scotland together into the nation of Great Britain.

I'm not offended by your comment, people make mistakes all the time; but I'd love to see you come to Scotland and start saying this wasn't a real country

I kmow that UK is a conbination of 4 countries wich are made into 1 but in my opinion of all 4 England is the one that rules over the others,still it would be pretty funny that Scotland made itself independent and the UK flag was missing the blue
cross(: also I heard somewhere in internet on some future of the UK website that the most probable time for Scotland independicing is 2045 then Ireland would recover Northern Ireland in 2060 and that Wales wouldn't be independent up to 2105... but they are just roumours so think watever you want from them.

All 4 countries in the UK are to have equal rights so technically there should be no one ruling country; England in reality has slight power over the affairs of Scotland but Scotland is in no way under the direct rule of England. The Queen for example could evict a scottish person from their home if she so wanted but that would be a royal decree and not a government one. I can see why an outsider would regard England as the ruler of all of the UK but that's simply false.
As for the predicting of independancy I don't belive it will happen anywhere near as fast as that, if Scotland were to segregate itself in it's current state then Scotland would fall to bits; some people may not like being part of the UK but right now there's no way in hell that's going to change. The UK depends too much on it's 4 countries to survive to have that change. That said I don't think segregation isn't ever going to happen, it might but not within the next few centuries.

and just to clear up a little fact; the UK is not a country but a nation.

Ok, well you are right because it didn't work that well for Scotland's last revolution...
any way with how economy is going trough alot of Europe I can see alot of shift betwen the power of counties happening in not that much time...

To be fair the revolution wasn't a complete failure, if it wasn't for Wallace and Bruce then the English army would have roflstomped all over Scotland and we would be under the direct control of England, if not part of England itself.
It isn't just Europe that's being hit hard by the credit crunch though, the US is feeling the burn in a major way as well. If there were to be power shifts then where would the power end up residing? Nobody can really afford to upset the delicate balance that's residing right now. The way I see it either the major superpowers will dissipate over a long period of time or a cataclysmic event would bring the different nations together.
