Description Since I don't really have a whole lot of time as of late I thought I would at least put up some of the sketches I have been working on recently. Pretty much all but one of these drawings was done over the last two days. I really don't like putting up my sketches because I would rather show a finished piece, but since it may be awhile before I get that done I wanted to show some of the things that have been going through my head.

Will be removed later. Enjoy!

I'm hoping to eventually get all of them colored. I was also thinking of putting up some of the sketches I did forever ago that have yet to see the light of day. So much work and so little time!

I really want to do a female centaur, and maybe something with bunnies and butterflies. I have a lot of ideas, but I usually need inspiration to get motivated. I might just have to color what I've drawn first before I start trying to draw more, and just keep a journal of what I want to do.

I'd write down all your ideas and yeah color what you have to get back into the "groove" of things. You also might want to take a break from it all--I hate it when I have TONS of ideas but my hand doesn't work enough to get it out--it really makes me frustrated to the point of tears.

Same here, just tonight I sat down with my sketchpad and an idea, but I just couldn't get it to come out on paper, so I ended up getting frustrated and leaving half drawn faces on the page. I figure I had better leave it before I start getting all depressed and doubtful

That's best--don't force it, when you force it things only get worse. At least that's what happens to me. I've had many people tell me to "work through it" but I also take their advice with a grain of salt as most who say that (not all) need to practice more. XD DOH! I know that sounds mean. But to me "working through it" would be HOURS of frustrated, crying, mess that would end in me wanting to quit drawing for good.
So I say take a breather, read a good book, watch movies, play with Seth, go out to dinner with your husband--distract yourself and write down all the ideas you have for later. Once your batteries recharge you'll be ready.

I think that's the best thing to do. I just found out that there's a job posting in my town for a Graphic Artist, so I'm taking a break and making a website, since they want a digital portfolio. It's a frustrating process, but it's nice to get back into the swing of Flash, that way I don't forget the program, and it gives me a chance to do some problem solving and thinking without having to worry about drawing.

That is fantastic news about the job position! How exciting! I'm def going to keep my fingers crossed for you.

This is a good distraction and probably one you really need. Design is similar but also very different creativly and this can help clear the cobwebbs from your mind and help you focus and soon your personal muse will come back and you'll be a drawing machine!!!

exactly my thoughts The mundaneness of the making the site is helping me come up with ideas, so I've been writing them down so I can do them later.

I like all of these sketches. They're really imaginative and interesting.
Great work. I don't think you should remove them though, because it shows how you go from this to a beautiful finished piece.

that's a great point, I've actually wanted to take a few of my more popular pieces and do a sketch to finished piece comparison.

thanks! I find that no matter how good a finished piece is, there's just a movement and life to sketches that gets lost.

That would be cool, I'd be up for seeing that! I thought it was a really neat look into your process getting to see your sketches. In a way, it kinda helped me appreciate you as an artist on a whole new level!

well that's awesome then! When I look back on some of the sketches it's kind of weird to see that sometimes something so simple became such a complex design, but I always love looking back on my sketches, I think they make me happier then my finished stuff.
