Description
So I had this idea the other day, for those of us who have played the Mass Effect games we know the problem everyone is having with helmets. So instead of reintroducing the "toggle helmet" button, why not integrate it with the story and gameplay.
Collapsible helmets. The weapons do it, why not the helmets too. When Shepard is not in combat the helmet collapses, when he is it fully forms around his head.
All rights to Mass Effect and the helmet designs belong to Bioware.

Man I've been thinking that since I saw the helmet collapses in Dead Space 2.
It really doesn't make sense that it's not included in Mass Effect anyway. I mean, as you pointed out the gun and is done so to make them easier to stow. the same could easily be argued for the various helmets.
Anyway, cool collapses designed here. I kind like the design that even when collapsed it's still visible.

I was wondering if you could do some more for some of the helmets that come with a specific armor, like the Blood Dragon or the Terminus Assault. That would be pretty cool to see.

I totally agree to this, the helmet should collapse like the weapons. Great idea

it could be linked with the holster weapons command, unless you are in a place that requires a helmet. and what about the DLC hardsuits? the DA armor would be cool like that.

I apologize if someone already said this, but I saw a lot of issues raised about Shep's armour being modular and thus the helmet getting bulky when attached to his/her head. An easy solve is just make the collar swappable for different helmets/visors etc. You can do it with shoulder pads, why not this?
Like the idea in general, very cool, Turian bartender hypothetical canonizing made me laugh.

I have wanted this for ever. I still kind of want the toggle in some spots, but I'd be perfectly happy with this.

I hope they put in that sort of effect in the final sequel. It'd be pretty awesome to transform your helmet on and off on the fly.

cool. They should put something similar to Dead Space 2 helmet which opens when you talk and closes after.

This. It's genius.
Reminds me of how one of the characters in "Lost in Space" could raise his own helmet.
It'd be really cool if Bioware did eventually implement this.

This is outstanding and further illustrates how absurd it is that Bioware didn't implement it themselves. You did a really cool job of showing how it could work, and it does make sense considering the fold-up gun technology.
Although I think the Death Mask is always supposed to be on, since it gives you that "negotiation bonus" for wearing it. The fact it looks goofy as sin I think is part of the charm XD
But this exact reason is why I never used the Cerberus or Collector armor much, since for any benefits they might have they just look weird to always have the helmet on.

Honestly, the Death Mask concept was really just to see if I could make it work...I think I did a good job.

That would be awesome. I vaguely remember collapsible helmets in the Lost in Space movies, they looked good.

Oh I wouldn't mind if you could do that with a flick of a switch.
I had actually hoped they had made the option open to wear the Inferno or any other special armor without the helmet.

Y'know there's a new DLC pack called the Equilizer pack. It gives you two more helmets and the inferno armor.

I know, picked it up yesterday. I didn't have the Inferno armor before, nice to have it now. I feel kind of ripped that I had to pay for it, but I could never stay mad at Bioware.

except one looks weird and the other looks like a quarrian helmet without the breathing apparatus... >_>
as for the inferno armor, it kinda sucks
