Description
- HTML + CSS + jQuery start page for web browsers
- inspired by Windows 8 screenshots
- easy customizable - via WYSIWYG editor directly in browser
License changed to CC BY-ND 3.0 because of some users, which are sharing not working modifications of my work!

Update 1.8.2011:

- added ability to have more blocks with names and animated switch between blocks (by clicking, keyboard, mouse wheel)

- added ability to change search engine before searching

Is there any way to disable the scroll animation? On bigger resolution screens it makes the cpu usage jump momentarily.. Otherwise fantastic work!!

I can't get this to work on IE9. Tiles stay empty and no functionality at all. All other browsers work beautifully. Tried different machines. Is this a known bug? Can we get a fix? Any ideas what direction to look for so I can fix it myself? I would love to use this in a school but they use IE on all stations .

I just LOVE this! It's so beautiful and it looks much better than many other start pages. It is REALLY useful for me, especially since I love to work with HTML. I like playing around with it, too. This start page is very easy to customize. The search box is a really good part of this, since it's rare on most Windows 8 like start pages. I added more search engines, all very useful. On Windows 8, tiles are same-sized squares and same-sized rectangles. This start page has just rectangles that are different sizes, and it looks even better! If only Microsoft implemented this design. The animation for the switch between blocks is great, too. A very productive thing is that you can switch between tiles using the arrow, the keyboard, AND the mouse wheel. I also like the feature where the globe icon shows up when there is no icon. As you can see, I really LOVE this start page and I'm glad that you were able to make it! Thanks!

Is there any way clicking on the Skype area could open my Skype application rather than the Skype url? You have a very forward looking idea here.

My 2 cents...
1) fix it so that when it opens the first panel is in the middle and the other two panels are on each side.
2) links should open in new tab (a nice option to have)
3) focus on the search text box when opening

Random Question.
After tweaking all of this and getting it to exactly what I wanted, I had tried to put in a different Search Engine instead of the defaults. I quickly realized I had no idea what I was doing. You have any pointers on an easy way to do this or is it too complicated to even bother asking?

Awesome work champ. A few suggestions
1) Is it possible to improve the smoothness when switching panes
2) Fix the font-family for "title*" to what you have for used for id="name1", basically this will have a consistent font feel if we don't use logo's. 'Open Sans',Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif
3) Focus on the search text box when opening a new tab

And, how can I show a full screen option, let me give you an example: I have a bookmark named "Personal Details" and I want the user to click on that and a that bookmark becomes larger and show some of my information. Was that clear?

In Opera 11.60 The bottom part which is blank(just the Background is visible) is black instead of the background...

Hi, maybe a stupid question.. How can I put this on a web server? I have been playing with this for some hours now, customizing it and trying to convert it so it works on a go daddy server, but still not able to do that..

Works great on Chrome 15 and IE 9 for me, fonts set to 125% DPI on Windows 7.
Bug with Firefox 8, however, makes its default position off-center by about 100 pixels. Probably fixable via CSS, will look into it later...
