Of course, you can set Bing as default search engine. Just edit in 'source.js':

var searchEngine = 'google';

there change word google to bing

Hi,

First off, amazing productive work! So stylish and slick. Kudos to you!

Just wondering whether it is possible to set it so that whenever you click a on a tile it opens up in a new window by default rather than having to click with the middle mouse button in firefox?

Thanks,
Matt

Could you also add the ability custom screen easily like this: [link]
And if you can, like I said in my previous post could you add a weather gadget : [link] or [link]
You will be my favourite "8" start page !!!!

Hello!
How can I add a fourth screen?
I tried to modify manually the source.js and config.css and was a living hell.

flatmo1 In reply to francisco346 [2011-11-05 10:57:38 +0000 UTC]

Basically, it is possible to add fourth screen. If more users will request fourth screen, I could add it.

How would I go about changing the purple background image?
I replaced it with another image and used the same bg.png name but it didn't make the change.

Great work ! But :
1/ I want to use an image as background . How do I do to make that ?
I think it will be useful that you put that instruction in your "eight.kx.cz"
2/ How do we put a weather gadget into a tile (with the ability to insert a title) ?
3/ How do we add hover effect in all arrows ?

Tks a lot

Open 'index.htm' manually and then go to menu - options - general - "set actual page as homepage" or something.

flatmo1 In reply to tedysparkz [2011-10-06 07:18:03 +0000 UTC]

There is nothing hard. Just place images into 'thumbs' folder, then run 'config.htm'. Set up all by your choice and generate text and then copy this text to 'source.js'. And then only set index.htm as your homepage.

thietmocchan In reply to thietmocchan [2011-09-21 19:56:18 +0000 UTC]

oh, I've just tried and it works well with IE9. But you have to modify a litle bit in the index.html file to prevent IE9 stop warning about running scripts or ActiveX controls.

I do not know, I am using win XP, so I do not have IE9. But I thing it could be compatible, because I do not have bad feedback from IE9 users.

Wikipedia cannot be set as default search engine. But you can set searching via wikipedia before searching.

There are images in background of websites links. So for every screen are using this same background images. This images are 1.png - 12.png in 'lib' folder.

I got that,Thank you,but I just want to be able to put whatever image I want (for example ...for youTube I would like to have an picture of the YouTube webpage). Is that possible?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

flatmo1 In reply to Pardaillan32 [2011-09-13 09:39:33 +0000 UTC]

Of course, you can put image of your choice into 'thumbs' folder and set it for any webpage.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pardaillan32 In reply to flatmo1 [2011-09-14 16:16:45 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, but no, it doesn't work. The images I put on the first page keep on showing on the 2nd and 3rd screen. I did what you told me, put the images in the thumbs folder and it still doesn't work.... Any suggestions, please?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

flatmo1 In reply to Pardaillan32 [2011-09-14 18:37:37 +0000 UTC]

One thing is the background of links and other thing is icon for webpage link. Backgrounds are the same for every screen, icon is unique for every webpage. And I do not know, what do you want. If you want to have your own image for youtube link, then put this image into 'thumbs' and set it (via config.htm or manually in source.js).
