usually a painting this size takes 5-7 days painting 2-3 hours per day

as much as I love it (and I guess, dedicated) if I paint more than 2-3 hours at a stretch, I start overworking things!

I am a little confused on the sky and light source. Is the sun in the middle of the sky in the painting? If it is...it seems low so is it close to sunset? Another sign of a nearing end of the day is the shadow cast by the sailboat in the foreground. If it is...you need more colors in the sky. The 'sun' seems too bright or something...I don't know...the sky in relation to the rest of the picture doesn't seem to work perfectly. HOWEVER, I do really like this painting...you do very excellent work. If I saw this for sale somewhere...I'd buy it in a HEARTBEAT!! I love it...

Looking at this picture makes me forget about winter. The composition's beautiful. It's especially impressive how you managed to capture a gust of wind on the water.

All I can say is; I'm jealous of your precision and talent.
My only critique- wonderings are.
1) the way you have the trees reflected in the water compared to the actual trees, should that bottom corner be so dark?
2) The integration of the reds, yellows, and greens in the trees, is it reall that integrated? My experience is that its not really... but I am talking from a midwest standpoint. -shrug-
3) we don't see the end of the disruption of the boat on the far side of the boat. In the apparent smoothness you've given the lake and how much this side of the boat is disrupted, we should shouldnt we?
I hope this was helpful.
All in all artisitic-leeway is granted. And i love this!

The first time i looked at it, i thought it was a photograph. It was very good for a photograph. But you suprise me more when i knew it was a painting. Beautiful! That's the only word i can use to describe that. I just love what you did with this painting.
And how did you transfer it to you computer? As if you're using oil paint, it's not possible to scan it, or it is? It's so beautiful, i wish i can paint something like this congrats!

I am just now discovering your paintings and am highly impressed. If only I had such fineart abilities. At this point I'd be happy to mimic oil painting effects in Photoshop!

The way you have captured the wind, and the direction of the boat, is simply amazing. Incredible.
You choose your colours so well. All of your paintings have a distinct mood about them.

imho your very best one. has a slight ancient touch....
critique (imho, and only at your request): if there is that much wind to sail the barque as quick as the wake implies, the water couldn't lie as quiet as it does and the trees would bend considerably.

This is a beautiful scene. You did a great job on the colors, especially the water and the reflections. Not much to criticize. Very lovely. Thank you for sharing.

I love it! The only suggestion I have, is to make the mountains that are farther back less pointy and more round.

I simply love your waterscapes.... that's a wonderful feeling of motion you've got there... is it the combination of the tilted sails and the comparatively stable hull? In any case, it's beautiful. Of course I like it~!!
