Description or "My explanation for being nocturnal".

You will not believe how much I miss because my "normal" waking time is pretty much at the bedtime for people living in the US. How many streams, how many live events, how many friends I could possibly talk to. I can catch the "Late night" streams, but that's it.

Thankfully I know a small handful of online friends who live in Australia, and a few in Europe I can catch while they're waking up. But the US - a BIG part of the internet - is almost always asleep when I'm supposed to be awake.

I try to stay up on the week ends but some of my friends in the UK and Europe are going to bed a few hours after I get online so I sort of relate

Mhmm... in this sort of situation, I kind of wish the world was flat for this, so no matter where you are in the world it's the same time as everywhere else.

Indeed. The hallmarks of a globalised society, hindered by geography itself.

Ah yeah, that too. Especially with birthdays. You tend to get really confused if their birthday begins after you've moved onto the next day.

Nah, it's not so much grief... just mild disgruntlement. I still experience the same non-live stuff as everyone else, so that's good. It's just the live bits that are a little troublesome.

I have a friend who's even further west than your position there - if I chat with him, it's usually at 2AM my time.

Thankfully I'm a night owl.

Yeah, I know. I've got a friend on the other side of the country - two hours behind me. They've got it even worse, especially since the internet isn't that great over there.

Everyone in Australia should move to Canada!  Our internet is better!

Considering the current government situation here... I'm almost tempted to. Half of us probably are, in fact.

Well, if you do, give us a shout ahead of time so we can build you an igloo first!
