It had been over two years since the plague ended, and Festival still couldn’t bring himself to return to the tree.
He hadn’t used magic in a long time, sometimes he would wake to phantom aches in the glands left from the sickness, and so he let himself slip into nothingness.
Two years later here he sat. Blowing bubbles.
Watching the Nova Tree regrow, and perhaps beginning to heal himself.
