Reason for being in Paradise: Icarus once lived as a spirit attendant under the sun god. All the spirits were known through the lands and gods for having beautiful black wings, and Icarus was the head of these spirits. One day the sun god sent all his spirits down to the mortal realm to help deal with some dissension between clans. As the spirits worked to calm the mortals, one particular person caught Icarus's eye. Over the months he spent on earth, he got to know them more and more and soon began to care for them, and when the spirits work was done he wanted to stay with the mortal. When the sun god heard of this news he was furious, he smote the mortal, wiping them off the face of the earth, and demanded Icarus come back. Seeing the one he loved be killed in front of him made Icarus livid. He attacked the sun god, wounding him, who then lashed out with his flaming power. It wrecked Icarus's body, but death was not enough punishment. The sun god repaired Icarus and his ruined wings with wax, so he could never know the warmth of the sun without pain, and banished him to paradise, where he now resides.
