I love the soft, pale blues and the light oranges contrasted with the stark black branches. Its like its dawn in more ways than one: Spring is coming along with the sun. I'd love to walk out into this scenery. It looks so mysterious and crisp and clear, I almost feel that I've been there before though I'm sure I haven't.
I really don't feel like I could offer you adequate critique since you're a skilled artist worlds ahead of me whom I admire so I'll just say that I love this and I wish I could be more helpful.

What function does photography have in your process? I think others have mentioned that a lot of these paintings look like they came from photos-- and I think part of that comes from how beautifully still these shots are (and maybe how flat rendering in some of the elements of the paintings). Do you take your own photos, or use sources?

Indeed, they come from photos In landscape paintings, I like to take my own photos, but this one however, is painted from one taken by a friend. I just liked it so much I had to ask her if I could paint it

When I see your landscape drawings in little, I'm thinking : "nice photo"... I always get caught
The composition is really nice, and the sky being reflected in the water is amazing... Also it is relaxing to gaze at your work I do love it !

Lovely capture of the light and reflections. The branches in the front are a nice compositional touch, as well. How many glazes did the water take, if you don't mind my asking?

Indeed so. I took my dad's old 120 film camera on three fieldtrips last month to some of upstate New York's most beautiful places. [link]
