Description
Made from other people's textures...do I keep track of whose? No, I'm a texture hoarder.Use it however you'd like, just don't repackage or claim it's yours. I'd love to see what you do with it, though.

Hi, could you tell me away of adding this to a picture so that the centre is transparent. Currently I am using the eraser tool to form the border but there must be an easier way I am overlooking? ( CS 5 here ). Thank you in advance anyone.

If you use Photoshop you could always set the layer to multiply.

I used this border for my DeviantID.
Just inverted it and cropped it a little.
It's excellent, thank you.

Why shouldn't someone repackage and claim as theirs - that's exactly what you've done.
Losing track of whose textures you've used is no excuse - if you can't remember, don't use them, simple as.

Not true. I completely altered the textures I have and turned them into entirely new things, and was completely honest about that fact. People are welcome to do the same with mine. I have tons of them just sitting here...why not create something entirely new and share them with people? They don't look anything like the originals at all. By "repackage," I mean not to take them, unaltered or slightly so, and throw them in a package of textures for redistribution. That's not what I'm doing. I should've known I'd anger The Stock Police somehow, though.

It's not 'stock police' it's copyright law. $realitysquared has released a few newsletters on the topic - stock and resources made from stock and resources are not legally sound and therefore cannot be submitted on deviantART. More than anything it's not fair passing your uncertainty onto the people who use your textures.

I'm honest about these textures. If people feel uncomfortable using them, they don't have to use them--there's personal responsibility involved here, too. If you'd like to report me or whatnot, feel free. If deviantART staff ask me to take them down, I'll be more than happy to. Thanks.

P.S. Way to be one hell of a hypocrite.

They shouldn't HAVE to ask you. Common sense and decency itself dictates that you shouldn't be jacking other people's stock to make your own. PERIOD. End of discussion.
