Description One of my personal favorites from the venture around some local fields on a warm Spring Friday evening.

The fields of nature, Scotland.

UPDATE: Finally completely satisfied with this now, cropped, sorted perspective, exposure, and shadows in clouds, and added a border and signing.

I hope you all enjoy, and thank you to all who view/comment/favorite/appreciate.

I agree w/kkart about the time of day and the harshness of this. It's actually so sharp, looking at it, it makes me think I've smoked a little too much of something, because it's like hyper real. I almost want less detail...

Nice photo, and good composition - it is very well done, framing with the tree is beautiful and the yellow field fits in just perfect. I'd just cut off the bottom part a bit.

But, I have some friendly objections regarding the post processing: first maybe you have used too much of Clarity tool (or something similar to it), cause there is a black halo around the white clouds and the shadows are way too strong, all of that can be result of Clarity tool exaggeration (in ACR).

Maybe that's why the photo looks 'oversharpened' and 'overcontrasted'. You should soften that a little. The big tree looks like it's dying. Leaves are yellowish and look like fading.
Therefore, try to put a little more green to the greens (they are too much in the yellow part of the spectrum now), so they can make a nice contrast to the yellow field and blue sky.
Third - don't overdo your photos. You make really nice ones, and you are talented, but this one is a little overdone, in my opinion.
Try to remember them as you've seen them in real, try to achieve that, and if you are not satisfied with the process, sleep on it. Do it tomorrow when you'll see it differently than the day before.

I hope I haven't been too hard on you, but I like your work and wish you to be even better e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

I agree with the critique made by photologia, it seems you overused the clarity/vibrance tool. But it's not a big problem, the image wins in composition and I love the greens and yellows. I think you have to tune a little bit the sky. Only that. For the rest... a great image

I have already cropped a section of the bottom off, and it sits nicely now in relation to the rule of thirds... so not sure why I need to crop anymore off?

Black halo? I just got done cloning the shadow from the cloud right now... I know there is a very slight shadow left, but I meant for that to be there. Maybe I will just get rid of it all then, thanks.

The tree is dying... and the greens represent them how they were, I didn't want to make them anymore green, as that would ruin it in my opinion.

Not hard at all, I appreciate the comments, and critique.

Lidija-Lolic In reply to FlippinPhil [2009-05-26 15:07:55 +0000 UTC]

Ok, the bottom is not much of a problem for me.
But the clouds do have black halos around them. You should avoid that cause it was not like that in the sky, and it's the result of processing. Don't clone them - try not to create them at all. Maybe just a little contrast or something, instead.
Adding the green would make a photo just a little more vivid, not destroyed. The trees would look more alive, IMHO. That's all.

I'm glad you appreciate it, I don't want to apologize for writing a critique.

I'm sorting out the clouds now, and taking out the power lines as someone else suggested. The trees aren't really supposed to look alive, it's Spring time, and it is practically dead, as I said... so that wouldn't really make much sense, in my opinion anyway.

Thanks again.

Well, thanks anyway.

It's just kinda hard to visualize which way the wires were running, but I quess that's a testament to your photoshopping skills.

The photo is a nice comparison to another similar setting. [link]

No problem, I was going to upload the original to a free image uploader, and link you so you could see the difference. I would need to resize it first though, and I don't have the time at this very moment in time. Poke me, and give me a lil reminder for later (when I'm home from work), and I'll do that for you.

That is a great image.
