its hurtful to the artist when you compare their work to something more well known.

no no u know you're not trying to be insulting not at all !! idk i've just always known from personal experiences that whenever someone says 'oh this original design/character reminds me of ______' it just kinda makes me feel bad? like if you put yourself in their shoes imagine working on something for hours and trying to give it a good design or a story and someone is like 'haha it looks like naruto (or any popular/iconic character you want rlly)!!' like you can sit back and say 'yeah i see what they mean x and y are similar but now i feel as if my work isnt valid because this character resembles something else too closely.'

idk im rambling its just i know you're not trying to be rude or insulting at all but what you think is just a side comment could really hurt the artist' feelings.
