It's been a while since the last one came out (2008)
And no, I'm not counting Skylanders as a Spyro game. Spyro isn't even a part of it
Too bad Insomniac decided to stop making Spyro games, they thought they couldn't go further with him
I'm not so pleased with Spyro in the second panel for some reason...

I liked the legend of spyro games, but they didn't have the same charm as before. I'm ok with the combat and multiple breaths, so long as it's done right, and the story keeps me interested.

Well the story is what fuled so much fan work and some has even become fanon. And because of that I personally look to the fans to give us more story. The originals did have a story but I think that the Legend of spyro games (the newer ones) REALLY opended up the story aspect and evolved it to be strong enough to hold fanon (I haven't gotten to play the sequels to the new beginning or what ever it was but I look forward to it.)

Yep. Till dawn of the dragon came along. That one pretty much sucked. Everything good about the first two was changed for the worst. Sure you could fly now, but it did little good, considering you still had to CLIMB STUFF! What's the point when you can just FLY anywhere. Spyro clearly showed he can fly high when he needs to, why not when WE need to? Being tied to cinder didn't help much, and while

Well actually the company that made the first two games died (Krome studio)
So they had to find another company
I actually liked to be able to fly around, but I liked the combat, breath and furies better in the last two games
I also liked more the models of Krome studio, and the environment was more pretty

I'm not saying the game was bad entirely. I did enjoy the flying, it's just that it didn't make sense, the way they did it. Also, the combat felt draged on after a while. Enemies just wouldn't seem to die till I hit them about 30 million times. At least in the previous games, they had a manigable life bar and stuff. But out of all the games, there's one thing I absolutly will never forgive. And it's in all three of them! SPARX! WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO HIM?! He goes from being a quite life bar in the first game, to being a bit more helpful in the second, and I belive talking in the 3, plus taking on his own missions. Then he got a voice actor. Which all that was ok, if a bit questionable at times. BUT WHAT HAPPENED IN THESE GAMES?! He became an arogant, narcasistic pest, that I constantly wanted to roast with my flame breath! He served no more of a purpouse than to guide you along your path. He didn't try to gather gems, he CERTAINLY wasn't your life bar. And the path is linear as hell! WHY DO WE NEED HIM?! Aside from him being a staple in the spyro franchise.

YES! Thank you! How can a company like activision not use a franchise as epic as Spyro! Do they not see that they tried to change too much with TLoS series and that they to make more like the PS1 classics? It just makes me so frustrated, being a fan of something so awesome but its nice to have people like you and others who think the same XD

Actually, I'm not sure Activision made the Tlos series, some other company owned Spyro at that time...

I can confirm that Activision did work on Legend of Spyro, or at least their name is on the cover of the case (I think they were mostly involved in rendering and marketing the finished game).
Before, it was Universal Interactive Studios. Eventually, UIS was bought/absorbed/transformed into the Activision/Blizzard conglomerate.
The actual game developers worked on certain games. Insomniac worked on the original three. Sierra worked on some of the ones that followed. Supposedly there's a period where they made a bunch of spin-offs, and I have no clue who the hell worked on any of those. Krome did the first two Legend games, and then they just sorta dropped off the face of the earth. Of all the developers involved, I believe Insomniac has been the most consistent. They even had plans to develop a fourth chapter of Legend, but Activision shut them down.
But who knows, Insomniac may yet have the last laugh. Like you said, Spyro was essentially used as a marketing gimmick to sell Skylanders. It would seem his use has since been spent. There is little or no mention of him in the more recent chapters of Skylanders.
I'd like to think that this is Activision's way of finally admitting they fucked up big time, and now they want to bail. Phasing Spyro out of the franchise sure makes it seem like they're done with him. I'd like to think so, because that would put him back within Insomniac's reach. I won't hold my breath though!

I think that Skylanders mostly used Spyro to make their game known and attract gamers who would then think "oh, great, another Spyro game !" I'm glad I never bought it. And it eats more monney than Monneybags himself

Actually I bought the game just to try it out
But I ended really disappointed....
The game itself is just so simple
Graphics are bland, Story could have been written by children
Even the characters could be designed by children
Also, I tried to finish the game with 3 characters, but it's just not possible, you NEED to buy more statues just to get to the end
And Spyro can't even JUMP, flying is an upgrade of powers too -_-

Yeah, Spyro isn't even in Skylanders. There's an ugly little gremlin thing who's trying to impersonate him. But no Spyro.
I didn't much care for the first two Spyro Legends games (they had a few problems... The plot had a few bugs, and I missed being able to kill things with one or two hits... but the main one was the nonstop stream of screaming monkeys that were hard to kill even with cheat codes...) I liked the last one and I really wanted them to move onto another because i was hoping they'd set it up where they'd find more dragons (the fact that Spyro, Cinder, and the four elders were the last ones always depressed me a lot.) and meet more characters from the original games, like the Professor and Elora and Bianca and Zoe and Sheila and such.

I would have liked the first two TLOS games a lot more if it weren't for the screaming monkeys. They gave me headaches.
I did want them to continue it once they solved the monkey issue. It was almost like a dragon version of Tomb Raider or something.

Insomniac has there hands full with ratchet and clank. More like help the community make a game for spyro. There are a ton of good spyro comics out there.
