I love the strength of this image. Had to add colors to it:

definitely you should draw this comic book, dude!
I just love The Darkness, Jackie Estacado used to be such a great character.

I really like the cinematic points of view you give to your images. Good camera work is the hallmark of any quality comic book in my opinion. I've done some comic work for pay over the decades, Wayne. never to the level you have, but I did get $150 a page for a few independent efforts, and I was contracted to do some online stuff for a while.
I found that the narrative flow of the story always made it a lot easier for me to develop a sense of where the camera should be for any given frame. Splash pages, two page splashes, covers, cameos... any scene where it was more of a stand alone image than a part of the sequential structure of the book, were a lot more difficult for me to determine a great camera angle. I could get it, but without the story, it required more work to find a good angle.
So it is that it impresses me and catches my eye when you put so much story into a simple stand alone image like this by picking a great camera angle. The way you capture angle and viewpoint for an image suggests you think in terms of camera placement a lot.
Is camera location and angle relative to a frame or illustration something you give a lot of thought to?

Thanks Rob. Yeah the camera placement I put a lot of thought into. Trying to find the
best spot to really make the image pop. Whenever I do a splash or standalone image such as this, I
figure out the backstory to the scene, and choose the most dynamic angle to sell that story to the viewer
.

Jackie is my favorite anything of comics forever!! Yay! Love it. The lurking darkling is great. As if someone else's finger was always in the trigger, which in a way, it is.

Do you still collect the Darkness comics? Are they still being published?

I don't remember. T_T A lot of them were on the Dark Horse website, then more not-so-legally from sites like MegaUpload or whatever. >_< I don't even have them anymore, they're on an older hard drive. One day I'll salvage 'em to reread the goodness. <3
