When the ghost voices first appeared, they largely went unheard. Hardly audible even to avali, they resonated through our audio devices. Warped sentences, mournful music, or simply desperate, heart-wrenching cries. The ghost voices were hard to acknowledge, yet just as difficult to ignore.
But as the skies darkened and the air grew colder, it became clear these voices, as garbled and strangled as they were, were the key in deciphering a rapidly resurfacing past.
We had to seek them out, and fast. We recorded everything we could hear, we analyzed everything we could record, we pieced together everything we could analyze. And yet, we did not even know what we were looking for.
