Introducing the Mantaroques!

Meet the Mantaroques! Mantaroques were the dominent species in WOS long before Whimlets and Turtledogs existed. They acted as guardians for all the worlds of Shelladon.
As the Whimlets and Turtledogs came into existence, and their numbers increased, the Mantaroques all went into a deep slumber, blending into their surrounding as to not be seen by other beings.
This slumber would last 500 years. Not much is truly known about them because of this. Every hundred years or so, there would be a recording or two, of sightings, of Mantaroques. But nothing that really told anything about them.

Mantaroques are wild and ferals beings. However, with a careful hand, they can be tamed and ridden by Shellians. Taming them does not always work, often times they will not respond to any attempts to bond with them. But occasionally, they can become sucessfully tamed, allowing the Shellian who tamed them to ride them.
Once tamed, a Mantaroque is bound to the Shellian who tamed them. This bond is deep, and if they are parted for any reason, the Mantaroque will become wild and feral again.

Mantaroques have the ability to fly! Their wings are attached to their front legs and along the ridge of their back. When closed the wings look like an extension of their body, but when they are open they appear similar to that of Manta ray.
A few things to note about their appearance:
They have long thin ears that are very sensitive.
They have big rounded canines, but despite their appearance they are very sharp.
Their manes can be styled in numerous ways. they are no limited to styles seen above.
Their paws have long claws on them. These claws are retractable, but they are never all the way retracted.

Mantaroques are omnivores. They tend to eat more vegitation, but depending on where they live they will eat anything, including unsuspecting travelers. So beware if you see one in a deslolate area.
