Honestly, I don't see the problem with the plush. If you think about it, Hasbro probably wanted to make the plush like Twilight but had to meet a dead line so they rushed the mane. I got one of these for a friend of mine and he said he doesn't mind, he and his girlfriend just wanted something to cuddle after a hard day at work. Only difference is the one I got him, the eyes face towards the front, not the back.
So while it's not like Twilight for real, think of this, they at least got the colors and cutie mark right.
