Description I made a art tutorial because a single person by the name of MegaBellehz commented under my Megaman animation which became pretty popular, and they personally wanted a art tutorial from me. And I was freaking shocked and excited because I’ve received compliments about my art style before, but no one had personally asked for a tutorial. And I was willing to give a tutorial for them because I wanted to help, and I think it’s also good to have a reference for myself because the three heads near the bottom are the most hardest head shapes for me to draw which belong to three OCs of mine being, Albert, Clyde, and Tonix. ESPECIALLY ALBERT’S HEAD SHAPE WHOSE THE MAIN CHARACTER OF AN AMBITIOUS SEIRES I BEEN MAKING. IT’S SO HARD TO DRAW. IF I GET ONE LINE WRONG, IT DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE HIM.
If you look closely you should get how i draw them. But allow me to give you some art tips because it’s complicated than it looks.
So specifically how I draw is that I always make my drawings in real life on paper then I trace them digitally by taking a picture of them. You always make a sketch for whatever you’re drawing because it maps out what exactly you’re drawing and balances it better. When sketching you always draw in a back to forth motion. Back to back motion which makes the drawing look hairy. Drawing in a smooth line doesn’t structure your drawing, you need to let lose and give some freedom to your hand and make a base for your drawing.
And in this case, we’re drawing characters, people. People are unique in my style and What I always draw the most. There’s three character body shapes I have because art styles can have same face syndrome where all your characters faces look the same. Same body syndrome can also happen. Luckily I learned from my own mistakes and found away around this. I had to, especially when my characters were just colors. Look at my Twoverse characters, they would have not survived today if i hadn’t learned different body shapes or faces. yeah there’s accessories and colors you can use to separate your characters, but as someone whose actually serious in accomplishing in an actual art job, I have to diversify. SO YEAH-
Away you can get around your characters body types looking the same, is that you can depend on the most common geometric shapes. Like Circles, Squares, and Triangles. When sketching, try using those shapes to model your character. It measures the width and length of your character, and what shape they’re supposed to turn out.
When drawing a person, you always start with the head. the head is usually the focal point because it’s where we usually talk out from and it’s where are eyes are located. So in order to make eye contact, we have to look at the head, directly towards the eyes. Usually start out with a simple circle as the base of your head. And if you plan on your character’s head on being a different shape, use different shapes that are ideal to your character. For my art style in this case because this is a tutorial for it. I differentiate my characters faces by chin and eyes. because they’re the only facial features i draw… No ears, No nose, no eyebrows, no pupils… no… mouth… sometimes no eyes. SOMETIMES THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE A FACE. But you can rely on the face shape. I have drew the different types of eyes I usually draw on my characters, I usually don’t draw my characters with pupils because the eye shapes I use don’t usually support that… I kinda think it’s weird for my characters to have pupils. I only usually draw two characters with pupils and they have the most special eyes. that being Albert himself, and megaman. I draw megaman with specific eyes, because… Well megaman in his own game cannon is considered the best robot in my headcannon. He’s usually the only robot dr Light considers his own child in all cannons, which is sad for Roll who is supposed to be his sister and the other robot masters who are technically his siblings to! And megaman has this “PERFECT CHILD” personality… or the generic anime protagonist personality… so I drew his eyes to look almost like his actual eyes in game. Because I like to stylize characters I draw and give them special details that reflect their personality. So I gifted megaman pupils and unique eyes because he’s considered perfect… I still love megaman and headcannon my own personality for him. It’s just his eyes are a metaphorical thing. And Albert’s eyes, his eyes always have to have the most lines, it’s sketchy and he’s always supposed to look like he hasn’t gotten enough sleep. Because Albert is a deranged person and always unhinged. Also with him being the protagonist of my own original series just like megaman, he gets special eyes to stand out.
OhH UMMM… LOOKS LIKE I’VE CURVED OFF THE ROAD AGAIN… ANYWAYS… onto the body… when you’ve chosen a face shape, make sure you draw a cross on the face so you can map out where all the facial features will be. This prevents from any eyes from being far apart or too close. And know where the mouth is usually. Then once the head is done, you draw a line down from the head as the spine of the character. Draw the neck and let’s start on the body. Depending on what body type you want your character to be, draw the specific shape for them. Like if you’re drawing a buff character, go for square shapes. If you’re a drawing a chubby or curvy character, go for circles. And Triangles… are built different. But I usually always use triangles for regular, toned body types. It’s the most common body type, heck I’ve used it twice in the tutorial for the circle type and triangle type. I always make an upside down triangle shape for the body because it’s the most realistic type, makes my characters chest wider than their waist. But you can also use the other shapes, like a rectangle if your characters chest and waist are the same width. Or reverse the triangle to be right side up if your characters waist is bigger than their chest. Or circles like I’ve demonstrated for chubby characters. I didn’t demonstrate any girl body types in this tutorial because I usually draw male characters, but I have a generous amount of female characters. And I can explain how to draw different genders later.
Once you’ve drawn the torso, it’s time to draw one of the most iconic details that make my art style unique. THE LIMBS. the limbs resemble stick figure limbs. There’s actually a long history surrounded by the limbs of my characters. My art style was inspired by the power puff girls of course which is why my characters don’t have feet or hands. On rare occasions my characters do have hands… which I did not demonstrate because hands are complicated on their own. And this is my art style we’re learning and it’s not usual to have hands. And I don’t think I’ll ever draw feet… ew… The closest I’ve ever gotten to feet is drawing Megaman characters boots’, and the claws of Dan’s feet. But I’ll never draw legit feet, DO YOU KNOW WHAT PLATFORM WE’RE ON? But the limbs are simple, they can sorta all look the same. Just draw lines for the limbs and also put circles or whatever shape you want the elbows and knees to pacifically be. They’re supposed to map out where the characters limbs are supposed to bend, and separate the leg if the characters calves and thighs are different. Look at the chubby demonstration to see how drastically different the limbs are. Then you should have mapped the whole body out.
Once you’ve mapped out the body, start forming the form. Actually start drawing the real body, draw around the sketch. And you should have something some what demonstrated… and once you do, you can erase the sketch so the body can stand out, especially if you’re gonna add details like clothes or hair, and other. I specifically used different colored pencils to separate how things were drawn. Usually people aren’t gonna have access to erasable color pencils, but you can use regular pencils, just control the lightness of it and make your sketch lighter than the line art. And their you go, da body. Now you free style the extra details.

But here’s some extra art tips I’ve learned from professionals.
When posing your characters in specific positions, always use references. Certain parts of the body will be in a specific Prescriptive, WHICH IS MY MOST BIGGEST WEAKNESS IN MY ART STYLE. I dunno what my characters look like from above or below. I even tried sculpting to figure that out. But real life doesn’t have line art so i dunno how to draw that out… Whenever a square head or triangle head looks down, they become a circle head. same happens when looking up. But still, use models or references (pictures of a specific pose) to pose your characters. it will make them look neater and not make them look like they’re breaking every bone in their body.
Second tip which is surprising for the art community… TRACING IS OK. THE PROFESSIONALS TOLD ME SO. Lemme explain specifically! If there’s a art style you’re inspired by or specifically wanna draw, which is the whole reason why this tutorial exists because someone is actually interested in drawing like me. Then it’s ok to trace… ONLY FOR PERSONAL REASONS, DON’T LEGIT TRACE IT, RECOLOR IT, AND UPLOAD IT “MY ORIGINAL CHARACTER DON’T STEAL”. keep it private, what you do is that you find that characters skeletal structure. you find out how they’re drawn, what their sketch probably look like. You find out what shapes were used to draw this character. You map that character, then you organically sketch out your own original drawing without actual tracing. My art style drastically changed ever since I’ve used randy Cunningham as reference, because he was the closest character I wanted my art style to look like. I did not directly traced Randy Cunningham, but I find his skeletal structure, incorporate his elements into my own style, AND BOOM, BIG DIFFERENCE.
Third tip… that’s about it, use references, and you are allowed to trace ONLY FOR PERSONAL USE, And I apologize if the camera quality isn’t that hot, I don’t care about my camera quality when I’m gonna eventually trace my sketch and it’s clear enough to comprehend the sketch.
i hope this art lesson was enough to help megabellehz and any future artists.
GOOD NIGHT I GOTTA SLEEP.
