Description
The old one got deleted ;_; So redoing this from memory. Please favourite or link back if you use it!The picture is kinda easier to understand 8'D
Longcat tacgnol
BODY:
Cast on however many stitches x 2. (I use 80, for a 40 stitch wide scarf) Join circle and knit a really long tube. The height of the recipient is a pretty good length, or however long you can make it.
LEGS:
At each end of the scarf (butt/head) pick up approx 3/8 of the stitches, knit, join round, knit in the round for 10-15 rows depending on the length you want the feet to be, kitchener closed.
CROTCH
Kitchener the 'crotch' part closed. Tip on kitcherner-ing, 3x the length of the distance is approx how much yarn you need. Mattress stitch or other sewing shut also works, I just find kitchener looks the nicest.
Tail:
Using dpns of the apropriate size, count 15 rows up from the middle of the bind off at the butt side. pick up 3 stitches (2 on either side of the center stitch). pick up 3 stitches diagonally downwards from there, and another 3 diagonally so you have an downwards pointing equilateral triangle. Knit one round. 2nd round, increase 1 stitch at the start of each dpn. k one round. so on and so forth till the tail is fat/long enough. You can also make just a long straight tail by just picking up the triangle and knitting, more stitches = fatter tail. Whatever other variation is also fine.
Head: Count 10 rows up from the center. Pick up 25 stitches. Here comes an actual pattern! even rows all purled unless otherwise marked.
Notes:
-m1 = increase in whatever your preferred invisible way is.
-If you can't work out how to to the edge-join you can just sew it up later.
1 k
3-9 k1, m1, k to last stitch, m1, k1 (35 st)
11-17 k4, m1, k1, m1, k till last 5 stitches, m1, k1, m1, k4 (At the end of each row, try to join the edge stitches by picking up one behind and knitting it together each time you reach the end of a row)
19-27 k4, m1, k1, m1, k till last 5 stitches, m1, k1, m1, k4 (67 st)
29-31 k
33-41 k4, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k till last 5 stitches, ssk, k1, ssk, k4 (35 st)
43 k
45 k7, turn work, purl back.
EAR START:
1 k7
3 k2tog, k1, ssk
5 k2tog, k1, ssk
7 s1,k2tog,psso
8 purl the 1 stitch
9 kbf
10 pick up edge stitch on the other side of the ear, knit them together, purl rest, pick up other edge stitch, knit together.
11 m1,k3,m1
12 pick up edge stitch on the other side of the ear, knit them together, purl rest, pick up other edge stitch, knit together.
13 m1, k5, m1
14 pick up edge stitch on the other side of the ear, knit them together, purl rest, pick up other edge stitch, knit together.
15 k7
This will make a triangle, then another that folds over and joins the first triangle.
Back to head:
45 cont- k the rest of the stitches til 7 stitches from the end. Make other ear.
47-53 k1, k2tog, k to last stitch, ssk, k1 (At the end of each row, try to join the edge stitches by picking up one behind and knitting it together each time you reach the end of a row. This overlaps the previous stitches.)
55 connect the remaining stitches to the body of the scarf. Any method is o-k.
Straight version:
Cast on however many stitches, k1p1 or garter stitch for reallllly long
Pick up 3/8 stitches for feet, the feeties are flat so no joining, just turn and work back and forth at the 3/8'th stitch.
Tail and head same as in the round version, except the tail can just be flat -shot-

Yep! Worsted weight would be good, the thicker the yarn the faster it goes hahaha.
Congrats on making your account!

I just finished making this today. It's over at ravelry. The pattern looks easy to understand or I just improvised a bit since I used thicker yarn. Overall I really love the finished product.
