More dragon eggs... I just had so much fun drawing the last ones that I did these, too. All shell patterns are manipulations of Hubble telescope photos of the universe (except for the Universe Simulation and the Black Hole, neither of which can actually be photographed, so these are artist or computer renditions). Cool, huh?1. [link] (Possibly Horse Head Nebula?)
The shell of this egg is a vibrant reddish-pink. Tilting across the bottom half at a sharp angle is a dark haze shaped vaguely like the head of a runner-beast, rising from a roiling base of cloudy shadows. Faintly, the reddish-pink is dotted here and there with white pinpricks that seem to struggle to show themselves.
2. Eagle Nebula [link]
Poisonous green and toxic yellow-orange can be found roiling across the surface of this egg, crowding out the royal blue haze in the middle. Shining through here and there are bright white spots haloed in an intense reddish-pink.
3. Universe Simulation [link]
Against a black backdrop web-like tendrils of light spread misty filaments. Layered, the webs of colors seem to surge forth from the darkness - first a deep blue, and above that royal purple, overlaid by an intense fuchsia, and finally crowned by white-gold.
4. Black Hole [link]
Turbulent eddies of dusty black sharply divide this rotund egg along its length. Erupting from the center of the black cloud is a hot yellow glow, and two balanced jets of blue-white, like light trying desperately to escape the pull of gravity. Menacing in its enormity and irresistible pull, this egg instills a feeling of morbid fascination to all who look upon it.
5. Celestial Geode [link]
Warm eddies of red-brown, like cinnamon in hot klah, swirl across the surface of this large-ish egg. On one side the brown is infused with a rich golden dollop. Creamy whorls dance through the colors, and tiny points of white flicker sporadically in the firelight.
6. Turbulent Gases [link]
This egg's surface abounds in gentle washes of pastels. Pinks, soft blues, and hesitant greens mix happily across the surface, colliding and dancing around one another. Here and there violet peeks out shyly, and the occasional soft tan gives support to the other colors. At the apex a bright coral gleams like dawn breaking over a foggy morning.
7. Jupiter [link]
One of the largest eggs in this batch, it is distinctively marked by bands of off-white and variable browns, which strive against each other with the power of unimaginable storms. Tempest-tossed, the shell of this egg is foreboding, but there is no denying the fascination it brings.
8. Crab Nebula [link]
This smaller egg is marked with choppy dabs of colors, like froth on a rocky sea shore.Tan, ocher, and lime overlay a deep, velvet navy blue, highlighted here and there with delicate hints of aqua. The pattern looks turbulent and discombobulated when viewed from afar, but closer study brings it all together in a wonderfully chaotic whole.
9. Mars [link]
What must have been a black shell at first has been overcome with a rust-red hue over time. Nowhere is this more apparent then just below the summit where a rich band of the color rests, the edges disturbed by internal storms.
10. Vertical Carina Nebula [link]
This egg looks like nothing so much as a dallop of cream on top of a mug of klah. Upon closer inspection, however, wispy bands of teal and yellow, and occasional hints of pink peek through. Though beautiful, there is something about the shell of this egg whichlooks slightly wrong, as if the klah had gone bad.
11. Horizontal Carina Nebula again... same link as above
Rust brown and pastel turquoise swirl and dance around eachother over the majority of this egg's shell. Hints of lavender and pale cream peer though, pulling in the eye to study to colors. Even though no real symmetry can be found, there is something restful and just plain nice about this egg, anyway.
12. Orion Nebula [link]
Streaks of pink and gold and teal are flung away from a bright white explosion about half-way down on this eggshell. Scattered haphazardly are tiny white pinpricks, each one a contrast of steadiness against the colors which seem to be moving at incredible speeds, as they are studied in the light of the fire.
13. The Egg Nebula [link]
Royal blue forms a rich base for this minute egg. Along the edges are pinpricks of pure white, accenting the the twin patches at the center of a rippling effect, the edges marked by a boundary of the palest teal which reaches ever outwards, extending the faint ripples which reach towards the stars.
14. Cat's Eye Nebula (color manip) [link]
he copper-gold alloy which coats this shell has begun to oxidize with exposure to air, throwing out sickly green wisps that spoil what would otherwise be a warm, dark amber hue. The blemishes are most visible at the center of the egg, where a series of overlapping oval markings have surrounded a single point of pink-gold, like ripples upon a river.
UPDATE:
I am going to run a Firelizard hatching in PernNorCon.

Jeweler Mind: They all look like gems, especially the bottom row. Most of those look like Jasper.
Artist Mind: I have most of the images you used in their original form on my computer. These eggs are absolutely beautifully done to show the best parts of each image.
Both halves love these.

Yeah, I've been playing a game called Pern MUSH, and that's why I've been drawing everyone's dragons. It's been a lot of fun.

I just started playing on PernMUSH, and that game inspired me! Plus, I'm a total nerd about space photos, heheheh, they just seemed to go hand-in-hand.
