aaAAAGH he's so sad ;A; Reading this scene was hard enough, but SEEING it and seeing his face and all of this is just a whole new level...
I love the hopeful colors and bubbles in the middle panel as Papyrus continues to be hopeful... followed immediately by that CREEPY-AS-HECK face from Flowey. Flowey, were you honestly not expecting that?? Uuugh and the way the dark colors around Flowey start drowning out Papyrus's bright colors...

Canonically Flowey can feel. Confusion, anger, sadness and fear come to my mind immediately. Don't know how it is in this AU though

Ok,let's take away confusion.
Every feeling is dumb they normally don't follow a clear logic. That's why we have the word "objectively" for decisions that aren't controlled by emotions.
We know Flowey can cry and we know, that he did that without knowing anybody was around. He himself told us that when he talked about his first awakening in the garden. And we know that he can feel fear. He begs you not to kill him at the end of the genocide run.

Which just makes me confused Because he says Hes emotionless but fear and Fun IS emotions.... now i understand Why my friend compares herself to flowey, they Are both very confusing People.

I think Flowey either doesn't want to feel emotions, because that would destroy his excuse to be able to do all those horrible things he did, or he means that he can't feel compassion/love for other beings. Because he shows very little to non of that throughout the game.

Just wanna put my two cents here, I think Flowey just functions like a psychopath, meaning he is completely without the ability to feel empathy. He can feel other emotions like sadness, happiness, fear, confusion, but they're all only in response to himself and his situation. He won't feel bad for you, because he can't feel bad for you. He's eternally forced to feel only for himself, no matter how much he wants to feel for you.

This is one of the things I hate most about Flowey. To the reader he's obviously putting on a façade, but he's lured Papyrus right into a false sense of security, just as he did most players at the beginning of their first run. He's a master at such a thing and it's because he takes nonthreatening forms and mannerisms, but the smartest wolves dress in sheep's clothing.

I think a large part of making emotional comic panels is having faith that your audience will be able to connect the dots. Because I could show Flowey having a really dark smile there, but that takes away your ability to imagine what he's thinking. Just having the eyes with no real clue as to what Flowey's really thinking lets you fill in the gaps with all the dark emotion you want. It proves the reader has a lot more to do with making the story great than they think they do.
