So, I finally decided to draw the characters from Steel spine, after about forty chapters XD This is what Steel spine would be like if =Amadoodles was writing it, although this version has fewer bows than she'd like.I would like to thank =Rusty002 and *Keberyna for helping so much with this, you made such a difference.
I did make a few mistakes, Chris is missing his underbelly scales (he was nearly missing some toes but I fixed that) and I'm still not that good at human faces, but I'm improving.
I forgot to mention that this was drawn for the #Thought-Up monthly prompt: Frenemies Forever
I thought these guys fitted that very well indeed, considering everything that Colin and Alex put Chris through.
I used some tumblr tutorials for the shading and the suit, although I didn't follow them exactly I did find them very useful. Here's a link to the blog they're on: [link]

There was going to be a bow, but I decided against it in the end, it looked a bit odd.
Thanks! I found a tumblr tutorial and although I didn't follow it that closely I'm very glad I found it. I hadn't thought of using gradients before, and also I think I've had a breakthrough in understanding shadows. I know what I've been doing wrong now.

Turned out good. Sad I couldn't be at the stream, but oh well, happens now and then. Love how you did Chris. People still need work, but they're better for sure. You'll get it if you keep practicing. Then you have to redo this picture in a year or so when you do get a lot better. c:

Thanks, he turned out quite a bit different to what I'd imagined, but that happens when you draw things for the first time. I'm going to make that my goal for September, to try to draw people to an acceptable level so I can draw more scenes from Steel spine. Kebs said she'd help me so I'm going to be posting sketches of faces to scraps for her to critique.
Yes, I will. I know I'm going to draw more Steel spine related drawings in the meantime so hopefully there should be a big difference over the next few drawings.

I always pictured Chris being more of a gray color.

I thought he'd be more brown, but while I was selecting the colour this one seemed to fit better. You're not the only one to have a different view of him though, it's quite interesting how people an have quite different impressions from the same text. [link] That's what another person thought he'd look like.
