I think this is more practical than the "traditional" models, really. Considering what and how they are fighting, an animal-esque form makes complete sense to me.

Slightly more practical, I guess--the metal still wouldn't hold up to the kind of force it's being subjected to but that whole movie was pretty much rule of awesome exploited at every turn so I'm not complaining 
She's got some obvious major weak points too but I'm envisioning her as more of the light, agile, slash-and-run-away type.Β Now I gotta get better at drawing robots and huge beasties so I can draw her in action!

sooooo about that...
I was talking to my friend about Jaegers and Kaiju and drift-compatibility and whatnot, and I mentioned that the only entity I could see myself being drift-compatible with is my cat (ignoring how incredibly inhumane that would be).Β And then I started thinking about what kind of Jaeger a cat/human team would pilot--certainly a feline-shaped one because it would be easier for a human to adapt to fighting in cat-style than vice versa (and also this is way more badass.)
If I ever draw the pilots though I'll probably pick a more standard team because I'm already deviating pretty far from canon with the Jaeger design.

We can have noncanon adorable monster fighter teams and laugh at the impracticality of it all.
I mean, someone sat down and with a straight face suggested defending against monsters by having a giant robot punch them until they go to sleep. Anything goes after that.

Glad you think so, drawing mechanical stuff isn't my forte aha.Β I think I got away with it here by giving it a nice organic shape (plus those muscly looking cables everywhere)
Realistically, it would be terrible of course.Β But my inner fangirl can't be ignored completely
