Tbh this world's been a dumping ground for my monster designs for a long time now but I never really thought hard about it.... I imagine they were kind of like.... Jurassic World type genetic disasters that were unleashed upon the world by a crazy science cult or something... or maybe its some weird gas that made everything mutate and that's why everyone needs gas masks......................
The first drawings I ever did of these guys were just the stooges getting chased around by a giant scorpion-tailed eurypterid lmao

Well, it's awesome. Perhaps the gas comes from a genetically-modified or alien virus used during the Cold War era, in an attempt to destroy the enemy by making the very ecosystems of their country turn against them, but it quickly spiraled out of control until the whole planet was ruled by giant mutations? Perhaps they attempted to MAD the whole planet prior to the takeover, but due to the alien genes it didn't affect anything at all and only damaged the infrastructure. Perhaps there are tribes of mutated humans, looking to further assimilate their unaltered humans.
