Theres not much information on his unit, and I have come to find out that I hold some of the last photos of that unit

This photo says a lot. Any idea if they are enroute to a target area on the return run?

Either way, I'm sure the crew aboard has adrenaline running high.

This was taken either before or after the flack attack photo. I really dont know. My Grandfathers brother sadly passed away, and I only was able to get these photos after he passed.

Do you know his wing or bombing group? ....And a quick answer to the above question about fighter protection...Until the P47 and P51 both were fitted with drop tanks, these bomber boys were on their own to the target and back....between flak grids, they'd get hammered by 109's and 190s amoung others. Such great photos my friend, outstanding!

shouldn't there be some spitfires defending the bombers from German interceptors?

I truely dont know, I think that because of the high altitude there was no long range protection
