Description Just a breakdown so I can more accurately remember my process, since I'm still learning how to do it. Maybe some of you will also find this helpful?

I didn't save the stripes and spots from the early steps, so those are a bit off, as step 5 is the most accurate to what they looked like early on, but I think that's the only thing I missed for this tut.

Finished piece can be found here .

It's fun to see in hind sight. Hopefully I'll get better at making the process more clear as I improve. Thank you! ^^

This is good to know! tbh, I don't know how to handle masks very well which is why my coloring is so simple most of the time.

Doood, masks make almost everything so much easier. You can paint black in the mask to define where you want the color to show through, and white where you don't want it. It makes manipulating things like heavy detailed spaces and gradients (for example) easier to manage because instead of influencing the color itself, you change how much of what shows up of what you've already painted (or will paint). If you ever have any questions about them, I would love to help. The concept of masking eluded me for a while too, but it makes life in painting so much simpler.

Look at tutorials, or make a mask and see what it does to the layer. ^^ You might be surprised and find it's easy.
