Description

This is the map! it's a bit crude, but I hope it gets the point across. This is the home of monsters in the gem knight au, they are not underground in a mountain, but sealed away on two islands in the middle of the ocean. the two islands are connected by a cavern system. The barrier is a magical storm that obscures the sky and makes it impossible to escape. Entering the island might also prove to be difficult, but it's still easier to get in than to get out.

King Asriel decided to rename a few things, mainly renaming New Home to Star Palace for two reasons, one being that his magic is star-themed, but the other reason is the wish of all monsters: to see the real stars one day.

Monsters are born from the crystal deposits and refined by the gems being cut and polished.

Because of the Storm, the waters are never tranquil and there are often storms on the surface. Although it is possible to cross from one island to another above the water, it is much safer to go through the tunnels.

On occasion, a group of humans will attempt to obtain the gems of the monsters, so the king announced a very strict anti-human policy. In one such raid, a lot of monsters were lost, and today there are (almost) no monsters alive from before the war. In addition, there is a constant threat of beasts that drop down from the sky, no thanks to the former royal alchemist who tried to open the Storm barrier.

That's really the main thing in this au, I guess. technologically it's your average fantasy world, middle ages, some magic, all that. This is a chaotic infodump.
