For a threeshot I'm working on. Thanks to for help with the idea for this drawing!
Tsubaki's taken a rather harsh blow to the head and she's still recovering (because I treat injuries as realistically as I can whether the source material does or not), so Black Star is keeping her company. I haven't actually read most of the manga, but I've heard Black Star's star tattoo gets slit across, so I wanted to include that.
This was meant to be totally platonic, I just love how these two--really ALL these characters--trust each other so much, and I had to draw it.
Most people think Black Star's annoying, but I understand him, so I can't hate his character like half the fanbase does. Plus Tsubaki was originally my second favorite character from the start.
EDIT: Added a little shading, roughed Black Star up, and even added an IV drip for hospitalized Tsubaki so it looks less like she's sitting at home in a nightgown and bandages.

Style, animation/artwork, story, and definitely character development. The anime cut a surprising amount of the awful fanservice, including Maka's constant panty shots, the boys shamelessly lifting their partner's skirts for Sid to ogle at, the Madness of Boobs (what the hell? Honestly, what the hell), Kaguya, just...ugh, there's a lot of crap to wade though. Storywise, there were some interesting things, but there were much better character establishing moments in the anime than in the manga (which was originally proposed as 3 different stories, which is why the first few chapters are so disconnected and there's so many main characters).
Ohkubo's art improved greatly over the course of the manga, of course, so I'm not going to pick on the badly-drawn early chapters, but about when Not! started running, he developed a more moe art-style to cater to otaku, which is the opposite of everything his style started out as. The anime on the other hand is consistent with its intense compositions, bright colors, and excellent animation.
Of course there were a lot of cool things in the manga, too, like the Book of Eibon chapters, the differences in the Baba Yaga arc, and the eventual witches treaty, but the anime only covered up to a certain point in the story anyway, and reading through a lot of rehashed work like the Envy chapter and Salvage isn't quite worth it. I also love Crona's characterization in the anime, not only because of their redemption arc, but because it was handled way better and I can actually understand what they were going through and empathize with them a lot more.
Both have a lot of flaws, but I prefer the anime because overall it feels like it upholds the aesthetic and themes of Soul Eater more than the manga did.

I see what mean with the fanservice but I still like the manga. The manga had more epic moments to me like Medusa's death. I didn't like how the anime did her final fight she was using a little girl's body thanks to that Maka held back. Whereas the manga had Crona kill Medusa which wasn't the epic fight I wanted but it felt moreΒ satisfying. I also love the final fight with the Kushin. I liked how many characters helped with the fight like Free, Eruka,Β Kilik, and a couple more. And the best part was my farvourite character becomingΒ symmetrical and it made sense. In the anime I didn't understand why his lines connected whereas the manga told us why.

I know, I went crazy when I heard it xDD Originally I got an idea for an AMV or something about all the kids having to break away from the DWMA (And I'm surprised no one has used that song in an SE AMV yet! What!) but then this hit me and the fic kind of spiraled from a oneshot into something a lot longer.

I know what you mean. Some of their albums are kind of an acquired taste. Like at first I only liked the first half of A Rush of Blood to the Head, but after giving it a few more goes I completely fell in love with it. Now I frequently blast it on long drives and cry my eyes out when I hit the last two songs xD But Viva La Vida is still one of my favorite albums. They did such a great job on it
