Uni project.Brief: Illustrate an article from the guardian entitled 'How Clean Is Your Mind?' which was about how we are bombarded with advertising and media messages every day of our lives, creating a 'toxic mental environment'.
The idea behind this is basically that perhaps we will get to the point in the future when there is so much advertising etc around that instead of that annoying jingle from the tv getting stuck in your head, the logo or whatever will literally get stuck IN your head. In the future will people be digging up skulls with the McDonalds M embossed into them? A little far fetched maybe, but I think it gets the point across. I chose to pick on McDonalds because its something that doesnt necessarily have a specific group that goes there. Everyone can go to McDonalds. And I hate the fact that whatever country you go to - england, sweden, thailand, indonesia... - its there, everywhere you look.
I'm fairly happy with it, but I just think it looks a bit um...plain. I wanted it to be more collagy, but I ran out of time.

Pencil, white acrylic and black 0.1 fineliner on brown paper. (p.s. the scan is crap, the light reflected off the pencil grrrr.....)

Ive recently tried to do a skull, very challenging. Yours looks great and I find the subject matter very interesting. I think your piece represents it perfectly. Its good to dee good stuff like this. Unfortunatley DA seems to be dominated by dodgyDigital stuff and endless manga! Need more stuff like this.

I like the use of the barcode especially. It's a powerful symbol, and just vague enough to encompass something as broad as advertising's stain. Good interpretation of the assignment.
