Awesome as that would be, I don’t know them. I’m not really a princess, silly, that’s just my costume for Nightmare Night.

Why do you sometimes have wings and sometimes not have wings?

When I was a filly, I was always jealous of the Pegasi’s ability to fly. After I discovered my special talent in the manipulation of light, I really started studying just what kinds of spells I could do.

My wings are just a creative combination of spells that I learned through my studies.

The part of the wing you actually see is just a basic illusion spell, though I did have to study quite a bit of wing anatomy to get them to look right.

During my studies I also learned about spells that create “hard light.” This is most often used for barrier or shield spells.

It took a lot of experimentation to work out a barrier spell that would not only block out air but would also have be aerodynamic enough to allow for anything resembling flight.

Suffice to say, I did a lot of crashing while I was testing this. Even so, I can’t exactly “fly” since I can’t manage any particularly complicated wing motion.
