This looks like something I plan for the end of my story. Rainbow performs a flight routine before Spitfire and later, they have a race around the plains.

This is quite different from your previous work! Trying out new perspectives is always a fun thing to try, especially something as hard as a top-down one.
The ponies themselves look great, and the fuzzy background really keeps them in focus, but Spitfire's trail really steals the attention from them, it looks like she's on fire and exploding at the same time. Oh and I'm not entirely sure, but I think the forelock's roots are in a V shape between the ears, not a flat line like you have here, but that's a minor issue.

I'm not sure about the hair thing, since I can never quite figure out how the manes are supposed to attach to begin with. Some of them seem to just look like human hair, and some seem to actually look like horse manes (pretty much just attaching from a line down the middle of the head/neck) with humanized styling.

That's how they look like apparently - horse-like manes but with humanized styling, but just as the hair roots on our foreheads aren't a straight line between our ears, I think a pony's is more of a V shape between the ears (looking from above) though don't take my word for granted.

Woohoo, different perspectives and background and clouds and shadows and stuff! The only thing I'm going to mention is that I can definitely see that you copy pasted either RD or spitfire and that spitfire's trail is smoke, and not fire. Also, the cutie marks are lower down, on the side of their rumps, not on them. But very good indeed!

I copy pasted RD's body shape to make Spitfire, because nearly every mare in the show has the exact same body type, just with different eyes and hair, so there wasn't a whole lot of reason to just draw essentially the same thing again. I did Spitfire's trail as fire, because the only trail we've seen for her is the storm cloud trail all of the Wonderbolts have, and I tend to think of that as a function of an enchantment on their suits or something, for consistency during shows, not their own personal trails. Also I couldn't get storm clouds to look decent. If we ever see her with a trail outside of that suit, I might try and update it.

I actually think that you should have redrawn Spitfire. Sure, they have the same model, but redrawing it means more practice, the drawing look more alive and I would think that not all pegasi fly in the same way, just as not all humans walk the same way.

Honestly, even if I had redrawn it, I'm sure they'd be flying the exact same way, I'm not good enough with wings and such to have them vary too much just yet, and I saw redrawing essentially the same shape as just a chance to prolong for hours, and potentially make a giant mess of, an image that I had already been working on *literally* all day. Though I doubt I'll end up doing enough pictures like this where copy pasting a pony body would make any sense for it to become something that happens often anyway.
