Are the portraits of all the mane 6 gonna be in this pose or this style?
I like how you did the hair, though I think it could be thicker at the head.
The iris and the pupil aren't really touching the end of the eye there.
Shades could probably be darker.

They will probably be in this pose and style, though the facial expression will probably vary a bit to suit each pony better. I'll probably mess with the mane a bit later to see if I can make it look thicker, but still look like it's actually made of hair. I think the eye got a bit smudged at the edge when I did the eyebrow/lashes, because the body is all on one layer, and the water brush does that. I'll see about touching it up when I go to work on the mane. The shading is intentionally fairly light, since I see this as if they were sitting for a photographer in a studio, and in something like that the lighting would generally be set up to avoid any particularly dark shadows or really bright highlights.

It was more the mouth I was thinking of when I talked about the shades, even if it is really bright, its still pretty dark at the mouth. I can barely see it at the moment.

I'm not quite sure what to tell you about the mouth, since I can see it clear as day, even if I tilt my laptop screen so far forward that everything gets really bright and blurry (it actually stands out even more when I do that...). I'm not really sure if the problem is with your monitor or if I can just see it so clearly because I spent so long making it. I guess I'll wait and see if more people comment to see.

I mean, I can see it, but that's because I know where it's supposed to be and I see some shades, but I still gotta look closer to actually see it well, which I usually don't have to. I think the problem is that if I first just glance over it, I can't see any visible shapes, I mean, I didn't even notice the wings until now. Try zooming out or looking from your screen and just glancing over it, hopefully you see what I mean. Try adding darker shades and a higher contrast on the piece and see if you like it. I've probably tried to explain it in a way hard to understand, sorry.
My friend is much better at explaining: "My overall tip to him would be to use higher contrast in many of the pieces and to keep edges clean. Then again, he might not want to (it might be a style preference)".
