Well 'pax beat me to it again. There's just one thing I disagree with. She doesn't have a male-looking muzzle, rather they both have a combination of male and female muzzle features. Females have the classic small rounded muzzle style while the males, though having more head shapes, usually have a larger muzzle(like you did here) ending in a flat part). I suggest the pony list on the MLP wiki and a "group" sort, to see the different stallions' head shapes. I gotta say, if you're not confortable working with references, I'm not sure how exactly I can help. The only other thing I can think of is the Ponychan tutorial thead. It has quite a big number of tutorials on drawing poni, so you might wanna give some of those a try.

I'm not uncomfortable working with references, they just don't usually help me at all. There's so much more that goes into a shape than I can see by just looking at a picture of it that I get FAR less help by looking at a reference image than I do from actually seeing something drawn. Not to mention, sometimes I'm just not intending to draw in show style at all (not here obviously, here I was going for show style), because personally I like my ponies to look a bit more horsey than the show style does, and if I had only wanted to do show style things, I would've just stuck to nothing but vectors.

The neck should be less curved and thicker and her head has a male head form, which cane make it looks weird. point the muzzle up a bit more and make it a lot more curvy. The ears are a liiiiiittle bit too big and position her body a little bit higher. The front hooves could be a bit thicker at the start too. The mane and the tail is prefectly spot on and so is the cutie mark, the eyes and especially the suit. It's just those small details but they'll fade away soon. I suggest you use some sort of reference when you're drawing, more than the link. A real MLP: FiM reference.

I've tried using show images for references before, but for whatever reason it never seems to help. It probably has to do with me learning art things best by actually watching them used, but no one I ever get a chance to watch livestream or such actually seems to draw in the show style. I mainly use reference images for colors and style details.

I still don't understand the "ponies are 3 circles" thing... >.>

Skip to step 15, I've used this for quite some while.
