Description
If you watch the day fly on, you'll never get anywhere. There is no telling what will come through that door and hit you in the face. You just need to count. One, two, three, begin. Begin what though? Take path that starts a journey through time and space? I wish. An average day in the life of a teen is boring and drama filled. It's so…predictable. How can I explain something everyone already knows? There are so many questions to be answered. If only I knew where to start. One, two, three begin, right? So let's start there, the beginning. It's 6:17 am on a Thursday morning. The bitter cold from the outside world fill the house. I just wanted to sleep forever under the blankets that held me. I closed my eyes just for one more moment.
The green meadow welcomed the sunlight more than the city. The deer stretched to graze, and the bunnies hopped through the underbrush, playing their own game of tag. I watched from a far, in a tall oak tree, the forest, the nature, the living animals survive in a peaceful existence.
"Don't you see the wonders of the world? Do you want to see more?" My mother held out her hand. As I reached for it, there was a glimmer of light from the other patch of trees.
"Mama, wait." The grand buck ran toward us. The glimmer of light appeared again.
"Time to go, honey."
"Mama, no!" The buck ran right behind us, then...
A slam on the door woke me. "Shiloh, come on, it's almost 7. Get out of bed!" I was shaking and sweating. The same dream has been occurring for years now. It was just Jaxx and I. No dad or mom anymore. I got out of bed slowly. Every spring in the bed and every crack in my joints sounded like that gun going off. I replayed it over and over again.
I walked down the stairs to find Jaxx grabbing his keys and holding a piece of bread in his mouth. He noticed me and proceeded to give me a look. "What?" I snapped.
He took the piece of bread out of his mouth and said, "What do you mean what?! We have to go, so get a move on!" He gestured on toward my shoes. I grabbed them and flounced on the couch so I could put them on. "Really?"
