Eh. I think death metal can be damn good, for me, if there's some really good songwriting. (Opeth, Amon Amarth, and Death, to name a few. For sure there's more)

Although, yea, when people think of metal, and yea, death metal, they think of poppy-core bands like Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack, and *glump* Fall Out Boy.

I'd say the only good Death Metal song I've ever heard is Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God (covered by Sabaton). Even then, the unclean vocals killed the song for me.

Check out Opeth, man. As someone who disliked growled vocals before, staying for those deep melodies just made me grow on them.

There are also breaks with clean vocals, so there's that too. ^^

I tried Unleash the Archers and thought they were epic. Until the unclean vocals came in.

Unclean vocals ruin a song for me. It's just my cup of tea.

Well, for me, I treat unclean vocals like just another instrument. It's the vocal equivalent of a distorted electric guitar. Sure, I may not understand a word, but, you know what, I focus on the music itself. And, welp, what are lyric sheets for?

I mean, I pay more attention to vocals since I plan to be a Metal vocalist when I finish college. The high, golden vocals serve to aspire me to reach those notes.

I mean, yea, I prefer high, soaring vocals over growls and screams, but I think growls and scream serve their purpose very well in the metal genre. I think the world would be a boring place if everyone sang like Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford. Variety is great, and that's what makes metal (and music, as a whole) interesting.

And, oh, cool! I wish I could be a singer like that too, but, well, I have more confidence sucking on guitar than sucking on vocals. :v
