Description

I started playing Aurora 4x and became a victim of "just one more turn" syndrome.
But game is lacking in graphics so I thought that I'll draw my ships myself.

Here is Defiant class Monitor, first military space ship of United Terra Federation.

History of this ship started with "Incident over Aten", when a science ship was destroyed over planet Aten-II. This caused panic and race to obtain means to defend mother Earth against hostile aliens, that are supposed to have military installations in near star system. After few years, when federation sent recon and diplomatic ships to Aten-II no trace of aggressor were found, and the incident remains mystery to this day. All that is left is wreck orbiting the planet.

Defiant class is hastily developed warship. Armed only with 24 simple missile launchers. Loaded with Seax missiles controlled with dorsal Fire Control unit. To find targets ship is equipped with huge active sensors array, dominating bow of the ship and supplemented with ventral passive thermal sensors.
Ship is driven by two Nuclear Pulse engines.

It was developed in 2029 and during its service undergone one modernization program in 2039, when its sensors where replaced with more modern ones. Its missiles were also exchanged for newer Seax 2 and later Seax 3.
But it still was a primitive ship, hastily put together in panic, so by mid 2040s all members of this class were scrapped.
