Fanart of Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX.I'm really enjoying the game, its pure simple fun. Despite being in an era where HD graphics and flashy cg effects are all the rage, its nice to know that some games still retain their roots.

What I loved the most about this game was that you could create your own characters! Plus, I always loved Akira Toriyama's style for the DQ games!

I love how you really took the original Dragon Quest design and kicked it up a notch and added some amazing shading. This is an excellent Dragon Quest fanart that catches the game in it's most premier and dramatic moments. The Blue Dragon still retains some of it's original charm and Hero's clothes looks so tiny and detailed!!! You also didn't hesitate to expend any effort of the background and it's absolutely beatutiful! A 9/10 fan art!

Ah, Dragon Quest... I don't understand why its less popular then Final Fantasy anymore. FF13 had barely any gameplay, all you did was wheel the players around...

It's always nice seeing DQ9 art. By the way, I think DQ1-3 will be on the 3DS, seeing as the first trilogy seems to be undergoing a renaissance. DQ9 is a lot like DQ3, the grottoes use DQ3 music, and that shield the hero is using is from DQ1-3, as well. If I'm not mistaken, the first legacy boss is from DQ3, as well.

This is so amazing... I really like the way you colored the dragon. It turned out really well. And the layout is pretty awesome.
Yeah, Dragon Quest IX is pretty amazing. I'm not really a fan of the graphics though... I really liked the graphics for DQ7 and the DS remakes of 4, 5, and 6.

I've never really played many turn based RPG's and I never picked up a Dragon Quest game before this one but I really love it! Are many of the others the same sort of style? Do they also have such a good story?

The main dragon quest games(not counting the spin-offs) uses the same system through the series, albeit with minor tweaks and changes. It's a series famous for its adhering to its roots, as opposite to Final Fantasy which sees the need to reinvent its system in every sequel
I didn't play all the games in the series, but I'd say DQ5 had a pretty good story too.

The flatness of the flames, the cg coloring on the characters and the 3-d coloring for the background are 3 different style of coloring. Actually it I think it's more like how you colored the images makes this looks very unfinished. The coloring lacks unity.
The composition could be more interesting. I don't know how to explain it. 
Focus. It seems like the boy with the sword is the focus of the painting cause everyone is staring at him . However your coloring suggest that the dragon is the focus of the painting
The pink girl looks like she is falling out of the picture.
